I was 110. National average says 60. Seems low

My brother is one here in Houston (and is an exceptional one as well might I add). I asked him the same question and his company policy demands it or they throw you in the garbage. It's a gauge to see how serious of a contender you are/will be.
A lot of recruiters who reach out to people like yourself know full well whether or not you'll get hired before even talking to you.
Best of luck

I would tell them how much I expected to make. It's a negotiation. So research how much people in your wanted position make in your region and start at the top of that number.
Go too high and your an idiot. Go to low and they'll higher you for that low number. They won't negotiate to pay you more.
Saying a number at the tip of the regional spectrum let's them know you've done your research. Saying something over that number by anymore than about 10% and you overvalue yourself.
Like everything else in life, this is a negotiation where the most prepared will win.

Tell them you are on the ot and you're aiming to achieve baller status. They will know what this means

Whatever you need to be happy plus 10% is your bare minimum because the employer will try to low ball that. If they ask for a range you might as well say the bottom number because that's what you'll be offered - 5%. Do your homework on what people are getting paid to do the same job in the same area.

Tell them you have something they won't get anywhere else.
...and their next question is, ok what do you have that no one else does? Your answer?

Well others are making 50-60 but I bring lait more to the table. I told them 92k which is what I started at 4 years ago in he same role with a different company. They know they are getting a good asset. Turns out I know the manager who is making the hire.
