I eventually got tired of the bullshite and quit after one of the bitch arse managers (Tammy?) told me to go get all the buggies out of the parking lot right as I was clocking out to leave. I clocked out, told her I quit, and never came back.

I remember her. She was a cashier when I was there. Big beastly bitch. She was moving up to some kinda front end supervisory job when I left. Her and that equally beastly big fricking fat dude Schaffer were kinda the HHICs that were not actually managers up front.

Kathy. She was actually the Front end manager. She reported to Terrance(was that his name? Cool arse black dude drove the caddy) and Perry, The Store Managers.

Kathy's daughter went to Woodlawn with me but 4 yrs younger. Nice gals both of em.

I don't remember any of their names but they did treat the baggers like shite. I stuck it out over two summers. At the end of summer '97 I clocked out and never went back. They called me up a week later and said they wanted their uniform shirts back. I told them to get fricked. i still have that bastard boxed up with other crap somewhere.

And you have unclaimed property in the form of a payroll check they never gave yo arse for about $25.

Albertsons was like McDonalds in that you had to return uniforms to get that final paycheck.

Now that you are saying these names they are coming back to me. I remember faces.

- Anyone remember the customer that went apeshit one day and busted out the glass on the emergency exit?
- Remember starting the 6 am shift and having to sweep the crickets out of the door?
- Hanging out in the walk-in beer cooler to cool off?
- The rain ponchos that smelled like a rat had died in in?

Terrance...wasn't he really smart and was a retired teacher or something and was working there just because he would be bored at home?

A million other things. Eh. It may not have been so bad. Loads of memories coming back.

Filled ice bags at the harbor bait shop during summer of 8th grade. Pretty easy work, but I had to be there at 4am and was done in an hour. They already had a guy who loaded bait and fuel for the customers, so there wasn’t much else to do but wait to restock the cooler. I volunteered to do other work during the down time, but apparently the boss frowned on being industrious. Lasted a week, weird place.

Grilling McDonald's Quarter Pounders. That and my next job (bagger at the real Superstore on Greenwell Springs) exposed me to people who were still doing that stuff in their mid-thirties. It gave me great motivation to take school more seriously.

Definitely did that.

And on rainy days I'd go upstairs to the bathroom and spend 15-20 minutes drying out my socks at the hand dryer.

Pizza joint making minimum (4.25 I think) although there were some pretty good perks for a high school kid.

I did love the early shift on a Weekend and that Summer of 93. Was dead as frick and I always been a morning person.

I was there when a dude had his MC Hammer pants taped at the bottom and tried to steal about 10 bottles of Crown. We grabbed him and Liquor manager told us let him go. He bolted across the lot towards Airline.

Yea Terrance was older and the Asst Store Manager. He had it good and drove that Maroon Caddy.

I hung out in the beer cooler a LOT. Drinking age was still 18 but Albertsons didn't sell to 18yr olds.
That said, we drank all the spoiled(cold booze got hot sitting on a cart) alcohol or broken 6 packs all the time and didn't get much fuss for it.
