re: Crawfish popularity in Texas

It varies year to year as we try places that friends recommend. I was talking about Woodson’s on 1488 with the loaded option and those cheese ravioli mixed in.

I live in the north Houston area and there are probably 50+ locations selling them within 15 miles of me. Some suck, some are the Asian that are hard to get used to, some are HEBs, and some are actually really good.

One of my favorite spots has the loaded with shrimp, sausage, potatoes, onions, and even cheese ravioli that melt in your mouth.

I would guess that Houston has more than most other areas of Texas and maybe even close to the full consumption of Louisiana.
Either driving around looking for the house party, dead end at Giles, Taco Bell on Johnston OR….

Working the dinner shift at a pizza restaurant which meant cleaning up after and ending shift at 1am. Fortunately that usually included a few beers that had to be poured by our waitresses. Sometimes that was followed by college house parties since most of staff was in college. Or maybe going to Maurice since their bars were open past 2am. Or Outer Limits.
Pickup basketball seems to usually count 1’s and 2’s at the various places I play. My FG% inside the arc is often 60% since I try to take good shots.

Many of the shooters I play with are 40%+ when I’m able to get them open shots.

Therefore my game has evolved to passing up semi easy shots to find the shooters.

The math is so different in my example above so apologies for hijack.
It’s crazy how much of the world has stuff going on like this that is sorta known but almost impossible to fix.

My town (The Woodlands) has had a large presence of mid and upper class Mexicans moving here over the past 25 years to escape the fear of living in Mexico with a family. Good people that saw the writing on the wall long ago.

My unpopular theory is that our brains have a type of antenna that can retrieve information from a collective library that is continuously expanding. Thus, Savants help humanity evolve more quickly and even normal humans to some extent also without realizing it.

For most of us, we believe this is not possible so it even affects our subconscious. This further reduces the natural ability of our brain to hone into the precise frequency necessary.

Savant discussion

Savants fascinate me although haven’t spent much time researching individual cases.

If I understand correctly, many are born with these unique talents and often have other developmental issues such as extreme autism. Others suddenly develop unusual talents after being impacted by severe brain trauma.

Think I heard a story of a toddler who was only ever around his Spanish speaking parents but able to speak 8 languages.

I realize the brain in still a mystery in many ways but how do we explain the more significant cases of Savants?
Someone told me once that males & females compete against each other in some Equestrian events.

I’ve always wondered why women are not more competitive in Chess. Maybe they just view it as not worth the long hours (and there are no male Chess players worth chasing after).
My former company was PE backed HVAC/Plumbing residential acquisitions. Revenue and Profit severely underperformed the past couple of years so they overhauled most of the Executive team.

The big annual Leadership Summit took place recently and I noticed several LinkedIn posts thanking their various suppliers for Sponsoring this event. Even their Health Insurance provider.

Anyone ever heard of something like this before? I understand a golf scramble type event having sponsors but a fancy Leadership Summit? Shouldn’t the company pay for this themselves?

I definitely believe in God and still identify as Catholic even though most Catholics would not consider me one.

I also definitely believe in some form of Alien, probably the theory of ancient human type species that has been living beneath the surface of Earth for thousands of years.

I also tend to believe there are different wavelength frequencies that Aliens better understand how to utilize on Earth.

I struggle to form a belief on whether Aliens communicate with divine beings in another realm.
Pretty sweet, Embassy Apartments near campus and probably when they shifted the old front 9. We used to throw the baseball and football on that old fairway near Embassy.

Last year or two of college makes you start feeling like a grownup.
It was huge when I was in my 2nd grade bowling league at Acadiana Lanes. I loved it then and felt like it gave me an edge over the other 8 year olds.
As one possible starting point, an offensive coordinator plugs all of his plays and the likely defensive looks they would face.

I would think AI could call plays during the game better than a coach. Or at least give the play caller data to get a real time edge.
Old and injured.

Yet if he can recover to 85% of his peak self, I’d like him as a #2 or 3 WR.
I just saw that Wendy’s is closing a bunch of underperforming locations.

I used to like them but have had really poor quality at a couple of locations recently. It was obvious that their workers were a couple of steps below the other fast food staff in my area. I wonder if that’s the major problem for Wendy’s.
True. Less discussed in this situation is that Culpepper never returned to form after his injury.

Culpepper was a young star paired with Moss but the Saban Dolphins era for him was pretty poor (I think?).
The Marino SB. I remember going with my parents to watch game at one of their friend’s house.
It’s been a while since I listened to Ill Communication but used to really like the instrumental songs in addition to the better known songs.

Ma Belle got the Ill Communication…
I’ve been in a couple of situations where most of the employees knew we were up for sale, including one where we were bought by a PE that told us there was a 5 year plan to help us grow for the flip.

That company was indeed flipped by the PE and is now part of Baker Hughes.
Many times I’ve wondered how much there is to know…
