Ah yes, Fun Fair and Putt Putt golf.
I remember my dad lived behind Schwegmanns on Sherwood Forest and he told me they were the biggest grocery store at that time. I used to love White Castle and Fast Track, too. I also remember going to Bon Marche with dad, and he had one of those Hypercolor (thermal color changing) shirts on and a hot, very well-endowed woman walked by us... he stopped and looked down at his shirt, I asked what he was doing, and he said he was checking to make sure his shirt didn't change color bc he was getting so hot. Young me found that hilarious. Baton Rouge used to have a very different character. Dad & I never felt unsafe back then (within reason)

My mom would take me and my brother there to buy football equipment to play in the BREC league.
We had a pee-wee football portion of a nostalgia thread awhile back that was awesome. Uniroyal Bucs for life bitches. Well, for one year anyway. My first year we played Saturday morning games at Memorial Stadium. Following years they were at Westdale Middle School near Catholic High and it just wasn't the same as the big stadium.
I would kill to be able to walk into The Athletic House circa 1975.

Was this at Northgate?
North of Northgate by a good bit. On Highland in the president street area. Not good even then.
Murphys was in Northgate.
