I have no car note or house note.
And no dependents.
If I wanted to disappear to south America today, that's pretty easy.

I've started over a few times. I could easily do it again. Probably will in 2-3 years.

Financial obligation does not equal the lack of freedom.
As a matter of fact, my decision to purchase a house, card, a boat(paid for), a 4 wheeler(paid for) and nice stuff for my wife and kids is in itself a display of my freedom

Typically you need a job to obtain money to buy possessions....Not free

I’m going to take this question seriously. To live free means to be in pursuit and possess goodness, truth, and beauty. All of which are the origins of God.
I receive that every week at Catholic Mass. So I’m livin free.

As a fallen Catholic, I politely disagree. I guess true freedom would be living off of the land, answering to no man or deity. I don't want that, just how I would define freedom.

Truly living free means that these colors don't run.

Really depends on your personality. For some religion is freeing.
I find spirituality freeing, but religion constricting.
The biggest trap people get into though is the "keeping up with the Jones'" crap where people feel a subconscious drive to be successful like the neighbors or live to the approval of others. That's probably the most constricting thing about our society.

Liz18LSU I don’t know how to reply directly or to quote you. Super new here. But I appreciate your politeness!

I'm free. I have 3 kids, am the mother to EVERYONE in Baton Rouge, get govt assistance, medicaid and my evil parents subsidize me.
i also own my own business where I beg people for shite for me and my kids.( Compassion, y'all!!!) In fact, you can sponsor me so i can go on trips to be on fake committees.
With all of this self created wealth, I am obviously a paragon of virtue and will lead NBR into the beauty of socialism because it is the proven way for everyone to be free and happy in the world.
Thanks for the money everyone, Love, your crazy sjw moneypit, Kibbles.
PS panhandlers dont just live in the streets. Some of us have nice apartments like me that are paid for by our evil parents who continue to abuse us by giving us money.

Having to show up to a job to pay for a roof over your head means you are not free. But I am ok with that.
I think this hits the nail on the head.
True freedom is being encumbered by nothing and being obligated to no one.
Most people don’t really want that for themselves. I certainly don’t.

I'm married with 3 kids and a job so no I don't "live free".
But I was free to make the choice to get married, and have kids, and what career to embark on and where to work.
So I don't live free but I do live how I want.
In 11 years my kids will be out of college and I will be able to retire at the age of 56, or at least only work two and a half days a week. I do look forward to the freedom that will come with the extra time and less responsibility with the family. But I will also miss having my kids at home.

You can also edit your post, like the (no message) one above with "Options". People can be harsh on here, but most of it is good-natured. Don't let them run you off!
