Yeah, I don't remember a Supra convertible, but I don't drive Asian vehicles, so I don't keep with them.

NTTAWWT.

Yep.

If any car needed something cool, it was the Camry.

That's what I recall.

Don't remember seeing one in-person.

Can't imagine it had the cowl shake of my C4 Corvette.

I've had a 2011 Volvo C70 for a few years and can't complain. It's not particularly fast but is OK. The top going up or down always draws a crowd.

I bought my wife one of the last ones last December, Audi discontinued all of the convertibles. Damn fun car to drive on weekends, could see it's size being an issue as a everyday driver.

Some say that, but the Miata's customer base in largely male.

Miatas are one of the models I see a lot of at track days, and the drivers almost all share one characteristic: they can all flat-out drive. They require a speed conservation line, their tighter lines, and early apex is a pleasure to watch when a good driver is wheeling a momentum car.

None of 'em can drive, but they can fantasize about pecker size. So they've got tha going for 'em. You can drive a Miata to the track, and if you don't bend it, you can drive it home. One of the most popular SCCA classes ever.

But will it blend?

This might be the worst car OP in the history of TD and that’s saying something.

I could breakout crying any second thinking about my two Honda s2000s. Best car I will ever have. Put about 130k miles on between the two and never had an issue. 50/50 weight distribution, front-mid engined.

You could push that car to its limit on a twisty backroad and it would feel more fun than pushing a Porsche on a track. Such an engaging car that could also bite hard. I just doubt anyone in this thread has the same driving prowess to do that without hurting themselves, so maybe it’s not for you.

Don’t let N2Cars push the Miata on you. Also great cars, but he’s not tasted the forbidden fruit yet.

Love the S2000s.

Would not recommend to OP, and you know why.

A friend of mine had one and she liked it. We had a V70 with that 5-cyl engine and the engine was rock solid and efficient. Our's did not have the turbo, so it wasn't quick, but had a nice top end.

I think they stopped making the C70 in 2013.

Haha just messing with you. Few knew how special that car was when I had it in my younger days before having to sell it because of moving to NYC where it wasn’t exactly practical.

And now, they ask why I sold it too early after they and everyone else caught on hence the massive price increases haha. You have to drive it to understand. Miata’s are great (especially for the track since they are cheap, reliable, and the parts are plentiful), but man Honda made a statement with the s2000.

We’re both F1 fans and both know the pedigree Honda has in that sport as the best engine manufacturer of all time. Shame they never had their own team to get rid of that ricer image.

Now that I’m not in NY anymore, ended up with an Acura Integra Type S (the more adult looking Honda Civic Type R) and it’s a great compromise. Not a big fan of FWD but it still corners very well for what it is, much more mid range torque, and I can fit a mountain bike in the back with the front wheel off in 30 seconds (I call it my truck).

I used to have a Mitsubishi eclipse convertible and I realized I value my privacy way too much to be driving with the top down for everyone to see. It wasn’t for me. I like the retractable sunroof in my Tucson far better now and i wouod necer own another convertible.

One time some a-hole sliced a hole in the soft top just to steal $2 that was in my cup holder. Not worth my time ever owning one again

They still do, but they are consolidating some models. And that's kind of nuts because Mercedes is IMO one of the world's best when it comes to a convertible GT car.

Fewer people can afford what is basically a "3rd" vehicle. I think this is the same reason sports compacts aren't as popular as they were during the Bush era. Younger people who don't need a massive SUV don't have the disposable income for a fun vehicle. And the fun vehicles that do exist are not resonating with the handful that can make it work.

Porsche, Corvette, some Mercedes models.....those are reliably attracting a lot of those buyers. But every other automaker is seeing very limited success in that market. Many carmakers have abandoned it entirely.

I think they've canceled it before Obama got to office. But I could be wrong.

The tech bros that could afford convertibles in the $50k-$70k range today are buying Teslas. And for some reason Tesla doesn't offer a convertible right now.
