shite every dog has serious health issues now it seems... Some you get lucky with and have no issues with, others you spend thousands of dollars dealing with

Not necessarily. An upset stomach because of a food related allergy or skin allergy is relatively minor when compared to the back issues that a Dachshund can suffer from.

We have a little Daschound/Mini Pin mix, best dog I've ever had. Barely barks, doesn't shed, just tall enough to jump in the bed, but not tall enough to pull stuff off the counter tops. She's 20lbs but when she does decide to bark you would think she was 80lbs.
