Texas doesn't consider Beaumont/Port Arthur/Orange part of Texas anyway.

If you draw the bellcurve that outlines Cajun culture in South Louisiana, that line would capture Lake Charles, but not Sulphur.

Acadiana is the name given to the traditional twenty-two parish Cajun homeland, which in 1971 the Louisiana state legislature officially recognized for its unique Cajun and Acadian heritage (per House of Representatives Concurrent Resolution No. 496). It stretches from just west of New Orleans to the Texas border along the Gulf of Mexico coast, and about 100 miles inland to Marksville. This includes the following 22 parishes: Acadia, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles, Calcasieu, Cameron, Evangeline, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, St. Charles, St. James, St. John The Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Terrebonne, Vermilion, and West Baton Rouge.

WBR trash isn't Acadiana.

Why do people from South LA think NE LA is really Arkansas? At least y’all are still attached to the state.

1803, LA Purchase, “ all tributaries of the mississippi” = atchafalaya.

1819, Adams Onis Treaty = Sabine River.

You were Spanish for about 16 years longer than the Acadians, over 200 years ago. You snooze you lose.

I honestly didn't know it was until I googled it. I think it's the accent that throws people off even though Lake Charles people have a pretty similar culture (lots of french last names, large catholic population, outdoorsy.)

We’ll let you join Acadiana if you donate I-210 to Baton Rouge so they can have the loop.

Because it's a blend of coonasses and east Texans. Two totally different types of people. i will admit they get along and are synergistic but they are not the same and deserve their own regional tag.
