Dunkin is underroasted and Starbucks is over roasted/scorched.

Dunkin tastes like it comes out of a Keurig to me. Too watered down.

I love Starbucks coffee and buy the whole bean to brew at home.

We have a local roaster, their product is far superior to Starbucks. Starbucks downtown went out of business.

I think it has more to do with their equipment, maintenance (lack there of), and methods.
If I brew Starbucks at home, it’s good.

It's hard to argue taste issues but I do prefer dark roasts and full flavor so I may be more forgiving or not notice this burnt taste people talk about. McDonald's coffee tastes like dirt water to me. And I hate chicory too. frick chicory.

If nobody has said this already, I've talked to a barista that used to work at Starbucks, and he told me they purposely burn the coffee. Not a joke. Now, I don't know if that's actually true or not obviously, but it confirms what everybody is thinking...they have awful coffee

To each his own, but I think Dunkin is absolutely disgusting.

Don't tell that to the people around me though. They treat that place as God's gift to mankind.

Dark roast would technically be more burnt than any of them, and should contain the lowest levels of caffeine.

I’d love to brew Dunkin at home, but not for $9 per 12 ounces.

Of course. Blonde and light roast coffees are roasted less time, I believe for 15 minutes rather than 20, thus containing more caffeine.

Didn't see a proper answer on the first page so sorry if it was answered on subsequent pages. It's shitty coffee because mass producing good coffee is extremely difficult to do. First, sourcing great beans at Starbuck's scale is next to impossible. Second, coffee with great flavor is light to medium roast, but light to medium roast beans have a short shelf life. So in order for starbucks to turn a profit they have to roast the crap out of the beans so they don't go bad sitting on the shelf. This leads to bitter, burnt tasting cups of coffee. In the end it doesn't matter to them because they can charge 5x more for it by covering the bitterness with cream and loads of sugar.

Because the beans are usually a month plus old.
