We all eat more of this than we realize. Meat glue!

So what's the meat made of?
Pig innards and plenty of salt. Typically, "restructured meat product" includes pig bits like tripe, heart, and scalded stomach, says Whet Moser at Chicago Magazine, citing a 1995 article by Robert Mandigo, a professor at the University of Nebraska. These parts are cooked and blended with salt and water to extract salt-soluble proteins, which act as a "glue" that helps bind the reshaped meat together.
That sounds delicious! Just lather up some sweet BBQ sauce, add a wilted pickle and you're in business

I've always heard the sandwich likened to a deadbeat dad: only shows up from time to time but always acts like his arrival is a big deal.

I scarfed down a bunch of McRibs in Brookhaven, Mississippi, returning from an LSU/Ole Miss football game in Jackson (Tom Hodson and Sammy Martin crushed the Rebels that year). I don't know if it was the 16 oz Budweisers I chased them with or the sandwiches themselves, but never again...

it used to be
now the shitty sandwich is even shittier
I tried it couple years ago, and it was crap. different BBQ sauce, less pickles and onions. It was typical Mcdonalds, they could mess up a wet dream.
the MCDLT was their best sandwich. kept the hot side hot, and the cool side cool. It actually looked like a burger and when put together was decent.

I went to college with both of those guys. Sammy Martin is stilll the fastest white man I've ever seen.

Same reason people try to act like Shark Week is a big deal. It makes them think they're hip.
