P.S. This thread should probably be carpetbombed. It is as embarrassing as the shooting is to the city. I hate that people like you (those making idiotic comments) exist to make such horrible comments.
If this was meant to offend me, keep trying. A football player died last night and gets a headline... meanwhile there is almost a shooting every night down there that goes unreported by news agencies... What about those people? Maybe I am pissed off that the mayor is too worried about political correctness of statues over people dying in his streets... but good try. Pretend to know my intentions by a comment... what a jackass.

A lot of those people lead lives where there's a high possibility of them getting killed. It's not surprising, so nobody cares.
Does it really matter to you if some crackhead with a gun gets killed breaking into someone's house? I grew up hearing murders on the news pretty much every single day....sometimes multiple. It's why I stopped watching it. Consequently, IDGAF about some thug that gets blasted. Most people that grew up here feel the exact same way

New Orleans is past thug on thug violence, seems a lot of innocent people are getting caught in the cross hairs or they're just random victims of violence.

So what if one of the cities favorite Saints players got killed, there's a ton of useless bums living off welfare and our tax dollars getting blasted too.
Is that what you're trying to say? Oh, and might I add that plenty of those people who are being killed everyday would more than likely rob and/or kill you if given the chance.

Yep, nola is crossing past that. It use to be don't go to this area and you are alright. Then they started creeping all over and opening fire anywhere in the city. The city also has a nasty homeless bum problem to go along with crime. The city has potential but until they get serious about violence its going to stay as it is.

Yeah, I see your point. The cops need to look at what they're doing and make some significant changes. New Orleans makes national news a couple times a month about regular people getting killed (some buying drugs though).
How often does a major, world renowned city get to completely redo everything? And then we go and frick that up

Occupants of the Impala per Nola

Man, I was in that area last night going between Courtyard, Nola, and Avenue... glad we left around 10:30... I hate being in New Orleans late

There are murders reported almost daily in newspapers and tv news stations, wtf are you talking about. I've seen countless murders reported in great detail about the people killed on the news and their families, life, etc. Stop making shite up.

Sad but Nola and Chicago gotta be two of the worst cities for shootings.
You're right about Chicago. But actually per capita Miami, St.Louis, Memphis, L.A., Camden, are just as bad if not worse.
99% of the murders in NOLA are in areas where tourists do not go.
But when there is an occasional isolated murder in other parts of town, it gets sensationalized and doesn't mesh with the murder rate, which is half of what it was in the mid 90s...
NO other city could put on Mardi Gras, Jazz
Fest, French Quarter Fest, etc with very few incidents like NO does.
e,g, In February 2010, 800,000 people descended on NOLA for the Saints Super Bowl parade. 800,000.
Zero shootings or murders.

Yea i don't like being out to late in nola. It will probably be a pretty long while before I'm back in Nola due to the homeless and crime.

that's pretty messed up. A lot of things don't make sense and sadly this is another example.

Anyone else feels that ship has sailed away a few years ago? Seems like NOLA had a positive momentum going on and seems to have dissipated since 2013 or so. The quality of life survey they just released indicated some disdain and malaise.

That is not correct. In the mid-90s, the murder rate was above 300 per year or 'nearly a murder per day.'
In the last few years, it has been about half that.

It's funny how you know who didn't live in NOLA during the 90's. The time when I wasn't allowed to go to watch my basketball team play Jesuit because it was too dangerous in that area. Or when people who lived Uptown felt they needed a gun to bring their trash out at night.
The city is still trending safer, but it just slowing because it's mostly isolated in the neighborhoods that don't want to improve. Yes, this is a different situation, but just look at the murder map for 2016. 90% of them are in areas tourists will never go.

What ever became of the dominoes pizza delivery guy that was gunned down a few years ago? Was that an innocent victim or a drug buy gone bad?
