OK...so here's a question I think is worth asking.

Could you (anyone, not just you ky) be persuaded off your position to the other side? That is, if you think it was real, could something come out that would make you believe it was fake...and if you think it was fake is there something that could come out that would make you believe it was real?

For me as someone that thinks it was real, yeah...100% I could be convinced otherwise. All it would take it one of the main culprits to admit it was faked, or someone really close to it with first hand knowledge of it being a hoax. I'd happily admit I'd be duped and laugh about it and move on.

But...I have a feeling that there is nothing that would persuade someone who thinks it's fake, because anyone that comes out and says it's real is just in on it, right? Part of the act?

Seriously though...could any of you be be convinced to switch sides, and if so what would it take?

Because why on Earth would Chris Rock assume Will Smith is about to belt him on the stage at The Oscars in front of millions of people?

Yeah...I agree. He looks like he's about to play with Will Smith if he says something funny. No one is gonna hold their arms behind their back to sell getting hit in the face. rock was completely and totally calm because he felt there was zero threat, because why the frick would there be?

I have to hand it to Will Smith and the Academy. They are really committed to selling this bit.

Apparently, the Academy is "meeting" to discuss "sanctioning" Will Smith as part of the next stage of this work.

LINK

quote:

Per a statement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences issued Monday: “The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show. We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct and California law.”

From another article.

quote:

Some sanction of Smith is likely to come — perhaps the suspension of his Academy membership, as many Academy members are calling for, but not the revocation of his best actor Oscar, as others would like to see.

If this is all a gag, Will is going to win Best Actor next year, too!

It already happened to me, whenever I saw video of will smith crying and his tweets afterwards

I can’t come up with any reason why he would be crying I’m front of other male actors if it was fake

For me, i definitely thought it was fake when I first saw it. I didnt even think Will connected at all.

But the more I saw it, rewatched the entire clip. About how visibly pissed Will was. About how thrown off his game Chris had gotten, to the point where he took a few seconds and was fumbling his words while trying to get back to the script. Lastly with Will having to be consoled after the cameras were no longer rolling.

I know Chris and Will are professional actors, but if this was staged, as soon as the cameras were no longer rolling, they would have been back to acting as normal laughing off the whole thing together with everyone. They would have zero incentive to keep the charade going on commercial break.

this is what I said last night

quote:

I dont think it was staged by the oscars, they are notorious tight asses and this just upstaged the entire show

now if smith and rock did this on their own, either real or staged by them, the oscars will make a statement rebuking them officially

this is not the kind of thing they would allow knowingly, in my opinion

some people on this board dont realize how shitty and uptight the MPAA are. The MPAA are easily Augusta National level uptight and Smith just made a spectacle of their equivalent to the Masters

Next up from the "it was staged" crew:

Well of course the Academy is playing along, they need to boost those ratings!

People who are saying it is staged saw the one clip that was edited and aired on American TV and saw nothing else.

There is no chance at this point it was staged given all of the other video and information we have available now.

It was 100% real.

Good point. Plus the optics of having a black man commit violence live on air when their entire agenda is to make the Oscar's "blacker"

Yes, this. Nobody wants to brace for a slap. Rock leaned in to hear what he was about to say. I don't think he ever thought he was about to be assaulted. Likely was expecting him to say something back at him.
