I guess people haven't come to terms with the fact that a lot of marine wildlife is going to die, and quickly.
The oil may not account for all of the sea turtle deaths, but it will.

What I don't understand is that it's only after a disaster like this that people even remotely consider the concept that we as humans prosper at the expense of our environment. It's not like we're a generally benevolent entity to sea turtles when we're not spilling lethal substances. We aren't entirely belligerent as a country, though, and there are people who do all that they can to conserve as much as is destroyed. We want to harness the world around us for our benefit, and environmental casualties are a stark byproduct of that. You can't live in prosperity AND expect to have a Sea World-esque Utopia.

Pretty narrow perspective you have there.

quote:EXACTLY! I don't hate wildlife at all, but with the luxuries we have in an advanced society the by products sometimes will be unfortunate. We must do what we can to prevent them, but sadly that is not always the case.

Every dead human and sea turtle involved in this incident had a place in this world and didn't deserve to die... I'd say they're all relatively equal, but that those who already devote their lives to conserving marine life should take on this issue and not those who are concerned with protecting us.

I'm not going to boycott them but I am disappointed. From what I understand they are actually leading in building windfarms. I'm actually working on one these projects. And no I don't work for BP
My opinions and statements do not reflect those of my company(I'm required to write this now according to our policies)

quote:To each his own; you gotta follow your conscience on this one man. My conscience says BP needs a lesson in what it means to really be concerned about the environment and less concerned about making nothing but money. Windmill farms are nice ideas; dead Gulf of Mexico, in reality is not so nice.
I'm not going to boycott them

quote:Did you now? May I share a quote about the author of that book's legacy?
I just finished reading Mein Kampf.
First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

This. Wish more people would wait for the facts before running their yaps. The media seems to specialize in fire, aim, ready.

So wait, you need autopsy reports to tell you whether or not wildlife is suffering from the spill?
