Just checking to see if a condo is cheaper now because of the oil? If so, does anyone have links to a cheaper condo for rent?

wait another few weeks I think....people are still mildly delusional as to how long the oil will last. Be forewarned though, our building is considering closing the indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub and boardwalk due to how much oil was tracked in yesterday...and that was day one. You may see complexes shut down to renters because of damage to common areas.

Some on here think it'll be a couple week ordeal and thats it

Yep they are....Just got back. I for went one deposit not intentionally. I would not commit to the full amount they pressed for the last 3 weeks. Booked right before I left last week got it for 400 cheaper.
That may have been because it was last minute though.

We have reservations and deposit down on one in Orange Beach for the week of 14-19. We called today and expressed our concern since the oil is hitting the beaches and they reduced the rate 25%. We were still going regardless, but it was nice to get the reduced rate since we can't get in the water.

Yes, the rates are reduced.
Example - The Lighthouse was $300 - people getting the same room for $100
Phoenix resorts - $450 - getting the same for $150 now.

And you are by far the biggest doomsday champion on here. Somewhere there is a happy medium....

Ok, dumb question, but is that a night? If so, do you have the link.

Yes - that is a night.
If you call them they will give you those rates.
Lighthouse Condos is in Gulf Shores
Phoenix is in Orange Beach

I would try VRBO and call an owner direct. With the cut that a management company is taking you could probably negotiate the lowest rate on the phone with an owner.

We tried vbro when we looked, but everytime the wife called, it went to a rental company. I think lots of rental companies are using vrbo now. We ended up just going through brett-robinson for the phoenix.

Brett Robinson
Here is a link to Brett Robinson's website. They own several condo units in Gulfshores/Orange Beach. Search the properties then give them a call and see what they can do for you.
The nicest one is their new property called Phoenix West.
Phoenix 10 is next door to the Flora-Bama if that is your thing.
They have two properties called Phoenix on the Bay that have lazy rivers and waterslides. Pretty good place for the kids.
As others have suggested, VRBO.com is a good choice too if you have the time to sort through it all.
