Wow. Almost everyone in this thread is a chicken little. "BP won't listen." "Jindal is out there fighting the good fight." "Obama isn't doing anything."

BP is doing everything they can, and most of you would agree that the federal government sucks at disaster recovery.

Jindal isn't doing a damn thing, because he can't. You can't change that, and I don't care if you think he's a savior or not.

Obama is doing as much as he can, but some of you should go read OPA and see how things work.

No, maybe you should get your nose out of BP and Obama's arse and join the rest of us in the real world.

I'm sure you have some amazing ideas on how to handle this situation better.

agreed....sure, this whole thing is a clusterfrick....fact of the matter is, no one on the planet knows how to fix it.....

the politicians could flex their muscles and take charge of the situation....but frankly, they would have no idea what to do....

There should have been an "idea" on how to handle the situation before the first drilling happened ever in history.

The oil industry (not just BP) as a whole got caught with their pants down to the ankles on this one. All the science to determine where to drill, how to drill, what parts of the earth to locate, etc. but don't know how to put "the plug in the jug" if there's a frickup.

Don't you think there should have been a precaution in place or am I way off base for thinking that?

This Disaster is BPs responsibility. They are in charge of the operation and will be footing 100% of the bill.

I would imagine if oil companies are out in the Gulf Drilling they have detailed plans in place in case something goes awry and the well starts gushing. Booms are stationed in various coastal towns and designs are assembled and ready to be deployed at a moments notice.

Because of BP's deceitful practices I'm begging Obama to get involved now. Oil has been gushing out for over a month now and BPs talk regarding this make it seem like its a drop in the bucket and cleaned up instantaneously.

There was a retired US Navy Commander of a nuclear submarine on the radio this past week. He said the Russians have had 4 run-away wells that we know of, and capped all of them by detonating a nuclear device at the well head. Understanding full well this is not an option for the US, he is very convinced the same thing could be done here with conventional weapons.

Nothing like nuclear waste mixed in with the oil that is floating around.

When did this (allegedly) take place? Haven't we (the U.S. and Soviet Union) had nuclear test bans in place since the 60's?

I'm not surprised that a military man wants to blow it up with a nuclear weapon. That sounds awesome. Who wouldn't want to see that...

Not saying it's a smart idea, but it's got a bit of flare to it.
