I bet the robust fella holding the sack is maxed out at that particular time. That is all you're gonna get out of him.

I live here in Orange Beach. Early this morning I received a call from a friend, charter boat captain. The first day of red snapper season. Boats ran into the oil sheen at about 7 miles due south of Orange Beach. My parents live on the Beach and they have not called to tell me that any oil has washed on the beach in front of their place. I have not received any calls from my city official friends alerting me to oil on the beach. I'm sure it's here to a degree by now. This sucks. I knew it was coming but it is just now getting real.
For those who may or may not have read my post shortly after the incident. please read here for my fishing story, brief account of what we saw/did and some photos.

I have reservations the week of the 14th to take my kids for the first time. I sure hope a miracle happens and it doesn't make it to the beaches. I'm still going no matter what unless they start applying dispersant directly to the beach!

I was there day before yesterday and saw the preparations for the oil's arrival.
Plenty boom and manpower there Sunday evening on Dauphin Island, and much of it visible from the ferry.

We were there this weekend also. Saw the island in the pass covered with boom and saw the work folks getting ready to put more out.
Seeing that pissed me off.

might be okay. my folks and my bros family were in destin this past weekend, and they said the water was the best they've ever seen. clear, no seaweed or jelly fish. keep your options open just to be safe.

Doesn't it seem like "they" know where the oil is going and are not letting anyone know. Does anyone know how long oil will be hitting gulf beaches. Is it hit or miss with some good weeks and some bad weeks or months of cleaning?

if you listen to BP, yes. but independent studied from universities from louisiana st, southern miss, and south florida disagree. i know they discovered a underwater plume 20x5 miles heeded for mobile bay. which BP denies. at this point, who are you going to believe? not BP for sure

They can't really predict that stuff. They can look at currents and winds and make some assumptions, but as to where it will def. hit or how severe it will be, that is all a guess.

I miss the Florabama, and that is great to hear. Update us tomorrow if you don't mind. I am stuck in California and need firsthand info.

God forbid! Now that Mississippi, Alabama and Florida are getting hit by the oil leak, the nation will kick in gear and come to their aid.
