Just mentioned at beginning of news that they will not lift the cofferdam off the deck of ship in fear of spark. Said the air is too still and fumes too thick.

I mean wtf???

That's because it never happened. No one ever said oil was hitting land 8 days ago.

so instead of just flying a helicopter out there to hover over the boat till they can get it lowered, i guess we'll just let gallons upon gallons of oil continue to spew into the Gulf.

either that or wait until the winds and seas pick up so these idiots at BP can drop the box onto the riser and frick this situation up even more.

It looks like they sucked it up and started to move forward according to the AP.

Their next excuse will be the wind and seas are too strong to maneuver the device in place.

All he needs to do is check the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL).

quote:

Deckhands wore respirators while workers on surrounding vessels took air-quality readings.

They should be able to test the air and do what needs to be done.

Yall need to sit back and stop playing armchair quarterback on something you have no idea what you're talking about.

If fumes and gas is present in the area and you have little to no dispersal and lift anyway and a spark occurs you would have another disaster on your hands. Then all of you would be bitching and asking why they did it. They're not sitting on their hands because they enjoy it.
