Meh. The new Allison's aren't even true Allison anymore, just "approved" or some bs like that if I recall. I'll take the American made aisin

The Allison's in tye HD GMs? fricking trucks have gone to hell. Makes me sad.

Allison transmissions made right here in the good ole USA in Indianapolis ! Aison is a Jap product !

Starting in 2019 the 10l1000 was manufactured by GM and branded as allison

Not going to derail the thread for fan Boys. The aisin in the rams is built in USA. Yes it is a foreign owned company

Good luck finding out where gm makes that transmission because it's not easily stated. Which makes me believe it's full of Mexico

I have to think this was for the 4th gen. The 5th gens are different trucks. I have one(5th gen) now after having two straight GMs that I liked a lot. I would buy the same truck tomorrow if I totaled it.
what year did the 5th gen start?

I looked it up too after the poster you referenced made that comment

I will be looking at another truck in the next year or so and hope to keep it very longterm. I have always been a GM fan but the issues with the 5.3 now has me looking at the Fords with the 5.0. Then comes the issue they both have the same shite transmission
. I have heard good things about the GM diesel and it is on my radar as well.
May have to really look into the Rams

This thread is driving Ram demand through the roof.

Haha thought the same. Hoping it gets pron bombed so chicken has to take it off

My top would be Ram. The interior, transfer case, ram boxes, ride, fuel economy, transmission, and reliably are all excellent.
Next would be GM trucks, then Toyota then Ford.
I have been in all of them a lot and owned a few. Ram is top overall. I never thought I would ever say that.

I was told that Ford and GMC 10 speed transmissions are the same. That they are buying from the same manufacture(maybe Allison).

I also read that they are the same. Joint venture between Ford, GM and ZF

ZF?
If these are Allison based then they sure aren't up to their normal rollability.
Someone at GM needs to be shot for what they have done to the most reliable V8 gasser ever.

I know I have a friend that has the 10 in his Ford and he has been thru 2 of them, another has a GMC and been thru 1. I think they both are 2019. I just know my 6 speed 18 shifts like crap.

As far as I know they are a ground-up native ZF design for pickup trucks.

GM hasn't had a transmission worth a shite since the 13 and older models.

Well those krauts need to go back to the drawing board.
