sure wouldn’t limit myself to the range of a slug gun. A .308 can come in a compact size and still give you 300 yard reach.
Y’all get any pics of him this season?
I have a dozen or so rifles. My 20GA is for Illinois gun hunts. It is one lethal SOB within 100 yards. That particar morning, I had two other rifles in the camp that would've knocked his dick in the dirt. The comforting thing about that encounter was making me work harder throughout the off-season making me appreciate the woods much more than I thought.

Good afternoon fellas
back out in the blind in the middle of Gods country, a pecan orchard in San Saba Texas (Hill Country).
This mornings sit was fun 10 does and fawns, a forky and a small 8 came through with the front. Nothing to write home about so they all walked. Light rain and cooler temps through out the day.
Biggest issue is the wind right now. Not sure much will show this afternoon with it blowing so much. Good news this river bottom will be in the upper 20’s tonight and the wind should die down by tomorrow morning. Hoping that gets them moving.
Currently
50 degrees
10-15 mph wind gusts
Sunny
Crossbow w/ mechanical broadheads
Ground blind
