Is it your typical pine woods brown its down lease?
I looked at getting into a couple clubs around there however they were nothing but pine with no buck management.

Got ran up on by 3 pits chasing hogs across my back pasture littered with trash on the fence line adjacent to trashy neighbor on my walk back to the car. Rounded on one with my .270, but he ran off so I didn’t pull. Tired of these trashy sons of bitches and their trashy dogs running my deer off! I really wanted to shoot his damn horse.

We are on Soterra land which has rules on its own however we are pretty strict on ourselves. We have 7 members on 2000 acres if it’s a 4 year old or better we shoot it. We get one doe a year. I think the hunting is pretty good considering the area. So you can find decent hunting in the area if you look.
Before you ask.... no offense we don’t take members someone gets out their spot stays open. We are all about not putting pressure on our deer.

Well damn.
Also only 7 doe taken on 2k acres? Unless yall have a very small herd I would think yall could probably shoot some more females. For management alone.
Just curious, any hardwood on the place?

GH. We have a few nice hardwood bottoms but for the most part it’s pines.
In my opinion after hunting Washington and St Helena parish for about 20 years I have yet to see a place with too many deer. I think taking less deer 10-12 a year allows us to see more while hunting. I think the area will never be a trophy place but we kill 130s every year and a 140-150 or so every few years.
That being said I’m in an if it’s brown it’s down club in Washington parish and it’s fun too but it’s a different type of hunting style than my st Helena club
