Alligators get on the bank to sun themselves so yes it is normal behavior.

Almost having a heart attack b/c you were startled by a gator is also normal behavior.

Unless you have small children or small pets alligators will not be a problem.

Keep any pets inside, that's for sure!

How big was the gator?
I didn't get a good look at it. If I had to guess, I'd say it was around six feet.

I don't have any pets or kids, so I'm ok there. I will tell my neighbors about it though.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Don't they eat a lot of fish though? I've heard that but never knew if it was true.
