I used to like to try to figure out how much cash he'd make on big weekends, Halloween, Memorial Day, etc. Some of those weekends had to have been in the $10k-$20k range I bet, all cash.

easily made that much. That was the only place to ride that had sand till Sicily Island opened.
ETA:
I also heard as well there was a trail leading from the Kisatchie but nobody knows where it is. And we looked one day. If its closed now and you really want in, you can always come in thru the creek. Not sure I would attempt this on a sport bike but we rode this creek many a times from the dunes to the HWY.

Holly Beach looks like a go from everything I read. As long as you putt putt past all the "beach" goers until you get out until the open, you're good. Hate to drive 2 hours and get turned around though.

Dick
Towards the end it had gotten alot better, it was stock back then minus exhaust and filter.
When it took a dump I had a new +4 crank I was about to put in.
Cylinder Works 434cc
Web 539/540 cams
Ported head
KW valves and springs
42.5mm FCR
It ran alot better after all that.

Back in the late 90's and early 2000's we would ride our drag bikes at LA Dunes during the day then ride our 4x4 bikes to Claiborne at night. I think Some of the land we had to cross near LA Dunes is now posted. Also, one of the trails we used back then (Boy Scout Trail) is now designated single track only.

BAW! the goat when it came to cams for those bikes. Loved the power they made at those high rpm's
Lukes Racing 449 cc kit
539/540 webs
port n polish head
1mm bigger titanium intake/exhaust valves w/ DRZ dbl springs
cant remember what carb i had. but i remember it would whistle at low rpm and thought it was cool.
and a special K&N filter big enough to suck a cantalope thu
13F/39R sprockets
dont remember the compression i was running with that kit but that bitch would eat batteries trying to start that thing after a long weekend of riding.
i miss that C12 smell

10 years later we finally get an answer.

You got out just as Lithium batteries were coming in, I upgraded my cables and ran a 12 cell Antigravity battery that had 440CCA, the stock ones had like 140CCA, weighed about 2lb. Starting a high compression motor with no decompression mechanism is no problem anymore, we run the same battery on a 880cc Raptor motor.
Did you ever keep up with the sand drag crap? Remember the Wild Thing? The laydown 3 wheeler that ran like 2.7 second 300s at 125mph+. This year when he ran it the throttle stuck open and ran off the track into a lake, guy ended up with a good bit of broken bones.

DAYUM!! I remember seeing a 3 wheeler with a wheelie bar the last trip I made out there but dont recall specifics. Some of those bikes back then were quite impressive. I can only imagine now how ridiculous they are. Turbos were just becoming popular when I stopped riding.
I just told my friend the other day (the guy with the green KFX) we needed to buy a couple and make a trip to Little Sahara again.

I've been trying to get my brother to plan a trip for the Raptor Rally the last couple years but never commit. We have a 535 YFZ on spray that I'd just have to swap Shaws on and the longer rear swing arm and be good to go. The Raptor motor would have to come out the drag chassis and into the duner chassis, no big deal.

Tower Trax can be fun on a sport quad depending on how recently the trails were smoothed out. A group of us took our 450r's out there a couple years ago and had a blast because they had just dozed the "Blue Trail." But...if they haven't been dozed in a while I would stay away.
Kisatchie National Forest offers several miles of trails that have all been fun to ride. We rode the Sandstone for the first time a few weeks ago and had a great time. The trail is very scenic and fun to fly down since it's relatively smooth. The Claiborne camp is closer to you and you can access 3 different trails from that one camp, which are all pretty long and fun but fairly rough due to tree roots.

IF yall are up for a road trip, I highly recommend going to the Rattle Snake Hunt at Little Sahara. Literally you can ride dunes all day and not see much of the same thing twice without going back to fill up. They even have a drag track with sanctioned races couple times throughout the event.
