Boy, lot of spell checkers on the board today looks like. To the informed responders, I already have two Sig SP2022 in 9mm and .40 and a 9mmm Shield for carry. Wife carries a Kahr CW380 (said the Shield was too heavy for purse carry).
So the 92 would be mainly range and HD and might sell my .40's (have a Ruger 944 also) and standardize on 9mm except for the Kahr.

I've shot my uncle's 92A several times and loved it! Great grouping, eats virtually any ammo, fun to shoot. It is bulky to carry. I keep my PX4 in the truck/on me instead of the 92 (he offered it to me). I doubt you will regret the purchase unless you are not a beretta person.

I have an m9a1 and I love it. There's definitely no chance of concealing it but it's a blast to shoot and the 92 platform is top notch imo

My first handgun was a Beretta 90 two. I'd say my biggest complaint is the slide mounted safety levers. But it is the ideal gun for new shooters for the first range trip. I even throw my Streamlight on the rail and it makes it even heavier. It recoils like a 22 and there are never any issues. I think you'd enjoy one.

I reiterate - with your background - the difference in manual of arms, alone (Beretta's have a slide-mounted safety - a rather awkwardly placed one at that) - makes you far more in the "Get a P226, Glock 17, or Glock 34 for your intended purpose" category. Of my pistol rounds downrange, about 1/3 have been through a M9. I can almost shoot my classic sigs with my eyes closed better than a M9 because military triggers are terrible. I've had some LE friends who swear by their 92s, but I don't see it. This is America and you have many choices that are superior.
What's going to happen is you're going to grab this gun in a crisis and forget to take the safety off - none of your other weapons have a manual safety, do they?
Unless you already know you like a 92 - I recommend staying away.

You know that Kahr makes a little 9mm and .40 - and they are excellent, right?

Beretta. Get the 96. It's the same gun, but in .40.

Has anyone clarified what a "Baretta" is yet?

I bought one of these. It's a wilson custom 92. It has all of the great features built into one 92.

I have a 92FS, wife gave it to me so Ill never sell it.
It rarely comes out to play, but its a nice pistol. Wouldnt be my first choice, but its not a bad one for a full size pistol. DA trigger pull is looonnnggg.

Your grouping is pulled to the right because of the unusually long trigger pull on them.

i had a 92fs.... nice gun, but i like my CZ's way more so i sold the beretta

I have a 92FS, it's a nice, pleasant shooter. If you do just a little Googling, you'll learn that you can change out one spring to greatly improve your trigger pull (D spring). You'll also note the repeated mention of the slide being ultra-smooth, like on bearings. Both are true statements.
It's a big pistol, even in the compact form, but if you're okay with not being able to conceal it, it's a great gun.
I like mine, and I'm a CZ guy. It's okay to like more than one model of pistol.

I'd say my biggest complaint is the slide mounted safety levers.

That might explain the first shot in DA but not SA shots.
