I've never fished big lake before.
3 years ago we caught over 2,000 (we counted) and that's just me and 1 buddy.
There's a lot of catch and release and a lot of small trout too.
We fish Toledo way more than Big Lake but with the water low i'll be at BL way more this year.
Hope to slaughter some monster flounder this winter.

I caught this 22.5 bull using a cocahoe on a carolina rig down by Fourchon. But my buddy caught a15 pounder (same time I had mine on the line) with a topwater. Try different methods if what you're using doesn't work.

Pretty much all I use now. Don't think I've ever had one fail.

you know the knew line that berkley just came out with they reco a double palomar knot.
I usually use it on the terminal end and an improved clinch on say a cork. I like how the line stays straiter. and uni to uni for leaders

I mostly bass fish so it's usually his line to hook/bait for me. I need to learn a couple others for the little saltwater I do because the palomar does lay pretty crooked.

You can catch redfish on jusr about anything. I've caught them on:
Shrimp.... dead and alive.
Spinnerbaits
Mullets
Croakers
Cocahoes.... Alive and artificial
Gold spoons
Cracked crabs
Doa shrimp
Depending on the day, there isn't much we won't eat

Can't go wrong with shrimp. If you want more action gold spoon or gulps.

Shrimp rules when it comes to redfish for me but they will eat just about anything if they are hungry.
