No doubt, Shimano decided manufacturing costs were too high and some models went downhill.

I own all three and it's a toss up between the Abu Garcia and the Lews.
I fish with both about equal amounts but probably prefer the Garcia.
I contacted Lews about making a large spool capacity inshore reel and hope they do.

he Calcutta's are bulletproof, but also heavy IMO.

Revo SX is a great reel for the money, shop around. I usually find them for around $140 online. I own 6 of them and they perform as well as my more expensive reels.
