You know what chaps my arse when looking at trucks on sites like that? When people don't put the mileage, what motor it's got, 2wd or 4wd, and other necessary items. Really grinds my gears.

I'm looking at used trucks on AutoTrader right now, and it grinds my gears when they don't post pics of the interior.

EBay dude, seriously.

I got a 2012, less than 40 hours from a dealership in Arkansas on the dirt.

Maybe they're just honest and just wanted to show it to you in its work clothes so you don't think they're hiding anything.

I just got a new to me 2001 Polaris Sportsman 400. I took off the rear basket and front rails, along with the warning stickers. Can't wait to take it out for a good ride. Got a 5 by 8 trailer for it as well.

THE ONLY WAY TO BUY A USED BUY: Buy a stock bike from an old man.

This and only this if you can. Best time to buy is now through early Summer when folks aren't trying to inflate prices before hunting season.

When I sell something, it looks as good as it possibly can, I'm honest about what condition it's in, and I usually ask less than what it's worth.

I like to move though. When I decide to sell something I want it gone right now.

I would never consider buying a used four wheeler with a snorkel kit. I've been keeping an eye out for a good deal on Cajun swap shop, but every coonass on there shows their bikes with snorkels.

I defintely wouldn't again. I got lucky with a well maintained bike other than the bad belt. But what I really don't understand is why people buy a brand new bike for mud bogging. I could never spend $12K and then swamp it. I'll be lucky to break even on my buy. But I got 3 years of fun out of it. I have changed the oil after every deep water ride. We sometimes even change it when we are out riding just to be safe.

1998 Honda Foreman 450 ES with ITP wheels and Mudlite tires, snorkel kit, 3" lift kit, front CV joint brush guards, custom camo-paint job, upgraded headlight bulbs, Stealth muffler system with flexible snorkel on exhaust, aftermarket emergency kill switch tether, and front and rear racks sprayed with bed liner.

Additionally get a set of stock wheels and tires, and an aftermarket muffler that was too loud for my needs.

It is a great bike but I need a UTV not an ATV. It has more than enough power to get you into trouble.

FWIW, when I bought it had been abused (like most bikes with a snorkel). I wrenched on it and had a shop do some of the work and eventually completely rebuilt the clutch, tranny, carb, and engine from the ground up.

I stripped it down to the bare frame and naval jellied all rust and repainted prior to reinstalling everything.

It does get used, but it also gets maintained.

Oil checked before and after rides and changed if needed
Snorkel drained after each ride
air box checked and cleaned as needed with each ride
front and rear chunk gear oil checked and topped off with each ride as needed.
battery kept on a charger.

Same for the Facebook gunswap groups...

It's amazing how many guns have "never been fired" or "has had less than 20 rounds through it"... come the frick on, man.

I feel the same way. I bought my Jeep from a guy who had it as a second vehicle. Drove his company truck all the time, and just did joyrides with the top off in the Jeep. I crawled all under it, and the frame looked great. A couple of light spots of surface rust, but for something that was 8 years old, not bad at all. It definitely hadn't been rock crawling and taken through any mud. Maybe a few dirt roads, but no bogs.
