Lincoln 350MP and an MK Python push-pull gun with 3/64” wire for mig, Everlast 325EXT for tig. The filler wire is 5356. I mixed in some helium on the 3/8” keel and transom and the butt welds.

What is your cost on the hull?

Very pretty welds! Did you go to UNO for their Naval architect program? My son is studying engineering at UL; I'm trying to convince him to go the naval architect route!

I have around $9k in the material right now. I estimate it will end up around $35k all in. I’m building the trailer soon too.

Yes, I got my Nav Arch at UNO. The program is good, but UNO as a whole is kind of pitiful.
It was my 2nd bachelors. I wish I’d known about when I was at LSU. The job market in this area swings heavily with the oil industry, but there’s more jobs in the west coast and around DC and Florida.

Very impressive. What are you planning to power it with? What are the specs? Love following builds like this.
What do you figure is your build time from start to finish with this project? Just curious as I’m sure you are doing this as a side project.

Kind of off subject, but I noticed the bolt on self leveling trim tabs. Did they help and do you like them? I've been thinking about adding them on my boat.

Yeah they helped the porpoising a lot. That’s a small Sportsman 15’ so the motor height adjustment didn’t help much.

Thanks. It’s 23’ with the motor/swim bracket, 8’ beam, 18 degree dead rise. The hull weight will be about 1500 lbs and the boat will be about 3500 lbs at full load. I’m leaning toward a 200 Honda but I haven’t committed yet. I like Suzuki’s too.
I can make a separate build thread later because I have a lot more pictures. I’m finishing up the outer hull welds now, then building the trailer, flipping it on the trailer, and starting the fuel tank and motor bracket.
I’m probably around 250-300 hours in right now and around halfway through. It goes together real fast then slows way down once al the welding starts. It’s a pain doing it outside at the mercy of wind, pollen, and bugs but I’m moving into a big industrial shop to finish it out so it should speed up.
It’s a side hustle right now. This boat is for me, but I would start selling them if I went full time. The goal is to start building big aluminum catamarans, along with the regular stream of fuel tanks, t-tops, etc.
