I just traded in my 2018 2.7 Ecoboost. Had a ton of miles and was ready for a new vehicle, but consistent O2 sensor or catalytic converter codes was the final thing that made me trade in before spending more money. Had changed the converter last year, only to have the sensor codes come on right after. Changing both was like $1300. A month later....same codes popped up. 2 weeks after I traded it, got a text from my dealership that there was a recall service they would provide for free to fix an issue with the computer system that was throwing faulty codes. Sound like there were possibly no actual issues, just a computer bug. Maybe check into that first.

Recall 24E12 affects 2018–2020 F-150s with 2.7L EcoBoost engines, requiring a PCM reprogram to update the catalyst monitor strategy and prevent false P0420/P0430 emissions codes.

That was the ????? n October but I didn’t save the print out
Will give ford dealer a call and ask about the reprogram.
Would you have traded if the reprogram had been successful??

Probably. I was in sales and had over 175k miles on the truck from driving a lot. Was an STX package so nothing fancy at all, but didn't care to have something nice at the time since I was putting so many miles on it around Houston. Just got a new role in the company where I can work from home. Figured it was time to upgrade to something I can keep low miles for hopefully many years. But may have been more patient shopping. Was coming up on an inspection that would have required me to have all that fixed again before passing and wasn't spending the money on a truck I was going to get rid of.

This is probably what it is. My wife has the 3.5 and It would throw that code off and on for a year. Finally the dealership reached out about the recall, they even came to her office and flashed the computer for her for her for free.
