Seriously, I would let him know he has been figured out. Then I would roll the ball to his court by telling him what he does about it will determine your course of action. If he wants to be treated like the kid that lies about eating cookies while having crumbs on its mouth let him know thats exactly how he will be treated.

Even if the dude made it up, hes still shown his hand. Giving a free trip would only suffice now.
