As long as he refunds the deposit I don't think it's a huge deal but if he tries to hold onto it then I'd start looking at other options
IDK, if it is confirmed that the guide was on the water with another customer after he cancelled with a prior obligation, I have a big problem with that.... now if the funeral was in the early afternoon and the guide did not think he could give his customer his monies worth and ended up just taking a friend out for a few hours, that is OK, or any other possible ways it could of played out would be okay as well but there needs to be some explaining done

This. Even when guides don't have a charter, they still go out fishing to stay on the fish.

He was fishing with another guide from AL filming a tv show. I have spoken with the OP this morn and he and the guide have been playing phone tag all day and are gonna talk at 2.

If it was me that he cancelled on I would rather have been told this for the reason my charter was being cancelled. I don't care about his reputation but to me it is shitty to lie to a customer to film a tv show.

He has tried numerous times already this morning to contact the OP. Let's wait and hear what he says.
The guide and I have played phone tag this morning, as I was in meetings most of the morning on my end. He has called me and we will work this out, no doubt in my mind. I have 100% confidence of this and will report back any pertinent information that needs to be displayed here. The last thing I wanted here was to crucify someone for something before all of the facts were known.

If you hadn't do you think you would be getting a call from him? He tried to lie, his buddies called him and now he is calling you.

He tried to lie
Dude had to be available at the drop of a hat for his wife who just lost her Grandmother. Why would he take out a payed charter knowing he may have to cut a payed trip short?

If this was the case why did he even go, just stay at home with your wife.

Let's hear what the OP says once he talks with him.
