Crabbing in winter?

I have never been crabbing before but my wife really wants to get into it. Reading around it seems like there are spots all around (Lake P in particular) that are plentiful in the summer but maybe not as much once its cold? Does crabbing really slack off in the winter months?

when it gets below 60 degrees water temperature or so they start to dig in the mud. You also need bait like pogies, whereas in the summer you can use chicken necks. has to be oily in cold water. I don't bother during the winter because you get wet in the process of hauling the traps in and it's to damn cold.
