When I saw all that butter and garlic, my thought was that dude doesn't know how to cook.

Duck Camp Dinners

What a great series! I loved every episode so far.

Do these guys pay to go to these camps and hunt or are they invited by the owners?

Usually invited.

I'd have been a little embarrassed if I were them ole boys that invited him in that last episode.
I realize that is how it goes sometimes but that duck/deer/squirrel hunting wasn't worth the trip.

I agree. That was the worst episode that he's had, just poor hunting. Always interested to see what he's cooking up. The hunting and scenery is a bonus, and makes me miss hunting in St. Mary Parish.

Seemed like a deer lease to me.

A couple of years ago one of them made a post on here asking for invites. One of them came out pretty funny.

As the person that invited him and owner of Parish Waterfowl, I'm not embarrassed at all. If you watch the Timber Tour episode I hosted him on, we had 3 pretty great duck hunts. The issue is, when filming things like this, you don't get to choose the dates. And when you hunt Northeast Louisiana, you get ducks one week and they're gone the next. We filmed this in the end of November last year and had 0 water in my normal holes. There were almost no ducks in the whole area, but the show must go on. What you didn't see on the "deer lease" were the 250 mallards that showed up to roost 15 min after shooting hours, or the pond with 200 Canada geese on it that we lost permission on in the hours before going to it.

Most of the old school posters know me as Nicoblues, and anyone on here that knows me knows I chase mallards all over the country and hunt 45 or more days a year. But all that said, the show was still a success. We killed 6 deer the last evening (they showed half of them), and even though the waterfowl weren't plentiful, I've had over a quarter of a million people see my company and my duck calls through these 2 episodes I've done with Chef. Not to mention, he's like my big brother. I'd say, adjust your perspective a little and enjoy the experience, not just the kills

That is fair and explains some of the issues he had there. I have no doubt you’ve had great hunts. Water levels explain some issues.

The reason I said I liked the shows out in Gibson, honestly that’s how I grew up duck hunting. Then moved to hunt in Grand Chenier and Pecan Island. Got frustrated with the lack of green and started hunting Texas and Oklahoma. That’s slowed down as well. We’ve all had slow hunts even on amazing properties leased or not.

It’s wasn’t a dis on your lease, your company or calls. I’m glad you were able to promote through Chef.

Also, almost everything in the show was filmed on public. The only thing on private was the afternoon hunt with the mallards and the deer hunt on the same property.

I’m with ya. I know a lot of the guys personally. And we all know how hunting goes. Last year was rough for a lot of ppl bc of the drought.

No worries, i was responding to the other guy anyways. And I don't look at it as promoting through Chef. It's just a great byproduct of the relationships and hunting buddies I have made

Same here. I know several of them well and they're just looking for a good time. That's whole premise of the show. The killing is a by-product.

I do prefer the hoboville hunts though, considering I hunt about a 1.5mi from their main lease and .5 mile from other spots in OG

Delta was really good for a lot of guys. I had 9 birds brought in for mounts for two guys who knocked em silly.

We hit Oklahoma and it was better first split, which is kind of unique. No matter what I think it’s awesome and enjoy Chef’s show. I’ve started catching some of his cooking shows as well. I especially enjoyed his St. Mary Parish crawfish étouffée.

Great response! You never know what you don't see taking place off camera.

Trust me, I was apprehensive about the show dropping. As a waterfowl company hosting DCD, you obviously want to kill birds. But the good Lord really checked us, and humbly brought us back to the original meaning behind the show.

You make a great call 1897. Aren’t you guiding some at Carters Big Island this year?

Yes sir, I'll be there the whole month of January. And thank you! I hope you have one, if not I have a couple of CNC calls available. There are about 20 at Bowie Outfitters too!
