I plan on coming up to Shreveport after Christmas to see my mother. Anyone have any recommendations from Shreveport all the way to Monroe area for good duck hunting services/guides?

I will be in Choudrant playing golf so it will be easy to be in that general area too.

Monroe area. North or South. Plenty of guide services.

Shreveport is not great duck hunting and I'm not aware of anyone who even guides in the area.

You have Mallard Crossing East of Monroe. Dave’s Bayou a little further East of Monroe and Top Gun up in the Jones area North of Monroe. I don’t Facebook but all of them are on it. Good luck. They are all probably booked but maybe you can back door into a cancellation.

I haven’t heard if Johnny is still in business or not. Maybe LSUBalls knows but I think that tirade he threw that got recorded may have done him in. People skills are kinda important in the guide business. Honestly I have only met him a couple of times but he seemed like an ok dude.

OP, I would try to work on Mallard Crossing first. Great outfit and awesome property. Then I would call Top Gun. Dave’s would be my last resort but it’s probably the nicest but it is not cheap. There is also Honey Brake but it’s probably more Alex than Monroe and probably the most expensive.

This is the worst duck hunting in north la in the past 25 years. Hell, it’s 79 degrees today. Save your money and play golf or try to get a perch guide. Most likely would be too late to book a duck trip anyway.

I will be playing at Squire, was just trying to actually pull the trigger this year. South Louisiana sucks as well.

I think it was actually on here where I heard it. Some guys recorded him in a back and forth and it got pretty heated. Definitely wasn’t a customer is always right situation from what I remember, but it has been a minute. Might be worth a search through the OB vault.

Hopefully someone can find it. Seems it was a fb live or something

Customer didn’t have the best day duck hunting I guess he expected east limits and called wink for a refund or partial refund or something and wink went off on him. Called him “cuz” a couple times it was funny as hell

I've been hunting with Johnny close to a dozen times because he was close and I always took clients with me.

Never again, he told an off color joke about Hispanics and the client with me had a mother that came from Mexico legally. After they left Johnny and I had a more than heated conversation and I told him EXACTLY what I thought. MFR just doesn't know when to shut up, and don't get me started on that wet shaking lab (Hollywood) walking back and forth in front of the blind instead of getting back and parking it.

Oh my! Well that is a data point.

Not to throw fuel to the fire but I always wondered why he never picked up those 11 billion hulls he has around his pit? If you hunted with him, was there a reason for this? I mean Mojo makes a pick stick.

You can call Colby- (318) 669-3793. He has Top Gun in Mer Rouge/Jones. Probably your best bet for a late notice opening. May be spoonies and sky carp unless we get a push, but you should do some shooting.
