I currently am part of a club up in MS and have been hunting there for years. Thinking about getting out due to the neighboring dog hunters that put an insane amount of pressure on the deer. Looking for somewhere in the feliciana's. Used to hunt just across the state line near norwood, LA. thinking about running an ad in the st francisville newspaper looking for a lease/club but idk.

OB baws, good idea or no?

Thanks in advance!

Everybody and their brother in the Baton Rouge MSA wants a lease in the Felicianas.

You've got to know someone who has the connections already and get lucky to be able to get the lease if it comes open.

The landowners I know have waitlists years long within their property portfolios.

Not saying don't give it a shot, but it's a high demand commodity with 0 supply.

Figured someone would say this. i know the probability is slim to none with what i am getting my hands into. i used to hunt right there in whittaker ms with my grandfather and its all LA hunters in that area. Made me sad when they terminated that lease.

I always saw so many deer there when i hunted there.

Yup. I've been pulling hey misters for the past 5 years and feel lucky to have permission to hunt a total of 17 acres there.

I saw somebody mention Cat Island, there is also Tunica Hills.

It’s batshit crazy what land cost in East Feliciana now. My parents sold 100 acres of great hunting land with a big house in it in mid 90’s for 250K. Place would be worth well over a million today. It backed up to John Barton’s 10K acres DMAP property.

Good luck. Like previously mentioned its hard to find something unless youre well connected and have deep pockets.

Id suggest the Harvey Land office in Jackson La. They have a ton of leased hunting land but there is a waiting list

My step dad has been hunting in the St Francisville area since 1995. We have killed a ton of deer and somereally good quality bucks over the years, but the prices are high as giraffe p now and the hunting isn't near as good as it once was. Too much pressure. I'm sure there are still some good leases but good luck finding one.

Makes sense. i know that adams and wilkinson county are the same way.

Where i hunt has the best potential ever. only problem are the dog hunters. puts too much pressure on them and you'll be lucky to get a good buck there. its been 4 years since i killed a good buck there

im sure theres alot of pressure but theres no way there is the same amount of pressure there as the amount of pressure where i hunt.

its the most ive ever seen.

Coonasses hunting next to rednecks with dogs is a miserable existence for anything that crawls, walks or flies
