re: CWD questions

I see you didn't comprehend the qualifying statement before that sentence you quoted.

quote:

No one seems to have a good solution to prevent spreading or a good assessment of the spreading vectors

There are no good solutions right now, which is why it needs to be researched.

White tail herds with 35% disease rate show an annual population decease of 10.4%. As disease level increases the population will decrease. That's not a scam or a fake disease.

Latest research suggests killing more bucks to slow the spread. Will increasing bucks killed be acceptable to state DNRs and hunters who want to have more bucks?

CWD is very similar to Scrapie in sheep and goats. It's another type TSE prion disease.

Scrapie much like CWD has never shown a jump to humans in natural conditions. Unlike CWD Scrapie is able to be traced because of the tagging program through the USDA. Since they can trace, they can eradicate that heard and control the spread.

Wild Cervids cannot be traced or eradicated like has been done with scrapie, so research is necessary to investigate into ways that it is spread and can be controlled.

No one seems to have a good solution to prevent spreading or a good assessment of the spreading vectors. Only solutions so far are stop supplemental feeding and test animals.

The alarm over CWD comes from two things. 1. The potential of jumping species like mad cow disease did. 2. Potential decimation of the wild cervid herds.

It's not a scam. It's disease that's worth researching because of the long incubation periods without showing clinical signs and fatal nature of the disease.

Claiming it is a scam is a dumb as claiming it'll turn everyone to zombies.

It’s really not logical from a scale standpoint. The amount of products that are distributed and used from these areas should result in an outbreak scenario where there would be massive amounts of infected animals being observed.

It should look more like the spread of covid, not the slow gradual movement that it has demonstrated.

Washington and Tangipahoa our two dairy parishes should be riddled with CWD based on his theory.
The scale of the spread should be exponentially higher if the main culprit is agricultural products moving across the country, which is why that theory doesn't make sense.

That's not a statement on the danger or lack thereof for CWD.
His claim would be way more effective if he knew how to compile data and run statistical analysis. Correlation and causation are two totally different things.

Alfalfa is a large part of the animal feeding industry and has been for a long time. If it was as simple as that, cwd would have exploded many decades ago across the entire country.

People need to pay more attention to the zoning part if they really want to stop development.

This is what the average citizen doesn’t understand. Once a property gets the necessary zoning, it now has the right by use to be whatever the zoning allows.

If the developer follows all the necessary steps they can’t be denied and will win the lawsuit against the commission

Zachary’s new neighborhoods are a perfect example. No matter how bad they wanted to deny, they couldn’t because the proper steps were taken. All those large tracts that got rezoned for residential development years ago so they’re coming whether they want them or not.

I like lucky buck. It's the only one I've seen them search for. I've poured on stumps and on the ground and they will dig the ground to keep going for the minerals left behind.

Bonus you get a good bucket with a top.
Currently have a six hitch and have had other respectably bred GSPs.

Six hitch dog is the best listener I’ve ever seen in a GSP. She’s just over a year. Super easy training and picked up on the basic commands with ease.

I’m not really all that interested in hunting with her just because of time and we got her to be more of a pet in the family. I have no doubt she could pick up on
whatever hunting I want her to do. Currently I’m just having fun getting her to chase and tree squirrels.
After looking at the picture again, he definitely shot it in the arse and is lucky dogs got on him.

It is somewhat surprising for a "hunting content creator" to release a video shooting a swiftly moving deer in through the brush.
Glad he killed it but that was a sketchy shot to take.

I wonder how much the dogs did to get the deer down vs. his shot

Ground Up solar is relentless. They start at 8:30 am and go one throughout the day.
Had a video come across my Instagram feed of a fight where the rooster attacked the handler while wearing the razor blades. Hit his femoral and bled out in the ring.

I don't see the appeal of that "sport".

Benoit's is my go to as well. Super nice and easy to work with. Very reasonable pricing.

On the ground I get either the ribeye fat mixed in or I bring briskets to mix in. Very accommodating to do a custom grind like that.

Their smoke sausage is the best to cook with and most versatile. Their Italian is great. A little spicy for the kids but mix it with ground and it makes great meatballs.

Bergeron's is too fine. Vine's has it's own unique flavor that's good to eat but doesn't really fit with cooking in other dishes. Plus their standard is 60/40 game to pork and they charge more for 50/50.
There are some distinct belief differences that should be discussed before if y'all marry.

I know these marriages happen all the time in Louisiana especially, but someone once told me on the topic of mixing Roman Catholics with non-Roman Catholics; you got to choose one or the other and both commit to it.

Just back from midwest hunt and looked in the crops of the mallards killed, and it was 50/50 corn to snails.

The ponds they were hitting were full of snails too.

Simple stomach animals like pigs and fowl can handle large carbohydrate loads. I don't see how it would negative impact them physically.

Now migration wise, I do believe they've imprinted on the heavy dry field feeding and have no reason to go any farther to feed than necessary.

Check out the podcast: Hunt Quietly

Matt sounds like pure sour grapes from the hours I've listened to him on his podcast and other interviews.

I get that they think hunting has become a rich man's game, but in the sue happy world we live in. Granting someone permission to hunt is a massive risk for the average landowner.

Writing-off a family member because of hunting philosophies and throwing mud at them every turn is taking it way too far. I don't care how much I love a hobby I'm not going to shite on my brother for doing it a different way. It's not that important in the grand scheme of things.

The piles and smiles guys will get burnt out. The commitment it takes to be a good waterfowl hunter on public land will get to them or they'll get their blind burned down by the hunting here for years guys.
The game has changed. Playing for pride isn’t a thing anymore
quote:

haven’t seen anyone operating them within line of sight.

Since there's no standard for this and most of them have a VLOS of quarter mile+, the chances of you seeing who is flying is slim.

I've flown over plenty of deer, and they typically run to the tree line, and it doesn't affect anything long term.

If they are harassing while hunting, that's another story, but if it's just flying over, I don't think any law enforcement is going to do anything.
I've killed geese with Migra #2/4s, heavy metal (hevi-shot's bismuth mix) #3s, BBs and 20 gauge #2. If you're getting decoying geese and taking shots while they're cupped anything #2 and above should knock them down.

The ones I bought off amazon didn't work. I just go a half size bigger than I need in boots and buy good wool socks.
