I always used a slightly modified San Diego knot. My dad saw some pro fisherman in the 80s tie it and it's extremely fast and extremely strong. I've used every kind of line on it and never had an issue. You can easily double it and make it even stronger.

I found out the hard way that using a fishermans knot with braid does not work. Palomor knot with braid, uni knot to connect braid to mono.

I use a palomar knot whenever possible. It is an outstanding knot.

Most all knots work if tied correctly . Very important to wet mono before cinching down. Braid is Palomar only.

Rapala for Topwater
Uni for braid
Improved clinch for mono
Uni for small diameter mono
Dbl uni for joining mono to braid
I want to add a snell knot to my arsenal for live or natural bait applications but haven't really incorporated yet.

I do try to break their face off when I set the hook. Not purposely. Just excited when that jig goes thump!
I have seen it break at the knot and up the line some. Just wondered if knots made a difference in hook sets. I always thought palomar was a 100% knot.

this is an improved clinch.
This is the only knot I've used. I also found that it works well with braided line too.

Double bowline?
With a half hitch on top?
