Ya’ll gotta share the details here. Is it like a polish name that’s hard to pronounce? Did it start out as a secret?
What’s the story behind calling them ‘the K’s’?

The K's are the family that truly own/owned most of the land on Glassock. JD basically muscled his way into "managing" the land back in the day for taking the rap for gambling/prostitution operations on the levee.
Scary to think what all is in the bottom of the blue hole . . .

A 99 year lease or until the day he died is the story I always heard.

They definitely didn’t discriminate about what when in it.
On a side note that kind of fits in with all this I had a guy show me a silver dollar one find that supposedly belonged to one of the club (not the hunting club) members. Whether it really did or not I’m not sure, but it felt pretty damn leery to hold regardless

it was in a discussion of the operations of Glasscock/Morville Field/Levee that I first heard my dad use the term "whore-tel" . . .

FINALLY!
I’ve been checking for that book periodically for a few months and it was never in stock.
Stanley was a very interesting dude to talk to if you ever had the chance. He was pretty much the authority and keeper of all things historic (good and bad) of Catahoula and Concordia among other places in the area.
My dad called it the same thing

I get that, but why does everyone call them "the K's"? Is it short for something? Its like its a mob guy that won't let anyone say his real name. Does anyone actually know their real name? Ha

I was around an old dude from the area one day and out of the blue he started telling stories about the Morville lounge, silver dollar gang, klan, mafia, burning down the lounge (I think he had a hand in burning it), hiding in the swamp after burning it. Crazy shite.

I just don't like using people's names on the internet unless it's specifically relevant. Respect thing I guess.

Family didn't pay taxes and GC went and bought it at sheriff sale.
Would have been a tax sale not a sheriff's sale in Louisiana. Family would have had 3 years to redeem.

Ain’t no party like a MissLou party
If you get a chance you should read Game Wars if you haven’t already and get the story on the Larto Gang affiliation of The Dixie Mafia and their white perch operation

Yes I did I worked at the port barre location with Dean Baron. I lived in that apartment in the back. I ended up at the big store in Lafayette. I was the F&I manager at both locations. Are you a relative to Andy?

Ok, yes I am.
Spent a lot of time at both those locations so imagine we would have met back then.
Was Jimmy with you at the PB location? (I believe it was Jimmy, lived in Krotz Springs).

Got it, I’ll call you.
In 2001 I got a lab from a litter from that yellow lab - he was incredible, the dog of my lifetime.
