Do people still catch fish there? I haven't been down in several years. I have a few days off end of the month during the week and was thinking of bringing my son down to fish and maybe crab. Ideally I'd like to surf fish, but he's 5 so the pier would be better.

The state park pier is closed. The pier at Bridgeside marina is open. You can catch a mess of fish off the Bridgeside pier, and it safe for a 5 year old.

My kids go there all the time- they catch, the Mexicans catch- sometimes the Mexicans give them fish and extra bait.

They claim it’s a helluva good time.

Thanks. Yes I was talking about the pier next to Bridgeside. Sorry, should have specified.

Go after dark, much cooler. Tie a glow stick with your weight on a standard chicken rig and bait with shrimp. The kid will have a blast.
