Well I probably just put a fork in this hunt. Dropped a red pig about a hundred yards out to my left, 4 came out and started munching on corn and I put the crosshairs about 2” below the ear hole. So much for the buck hunt?

Sonofabitch!!! A buck just walked across the road to my right at 70-80 yards. His right side was beautiful but he wouldn’t look at me to get a judgement on spread. Whistle and holler didn’t work? Well, they’re moving this morning.

Buck hunt
Greensburg, LA
46 degrees, cloudy with 6 mph north wind
Remmy 700 in 7 rem mag with 139 gr hornady interlock handloads

In a fancy box blind watching logging road through planted pines. I can see at least half a mile to my left and 200 yards to my right and absolutely nothing in front or behind me. I sure hope he pops out at 40 yards, lol. Good luck everyone!

Greensburg, LA
67 degrees, partly cloudy with 13 mph south wind
Beretta A400, full choke with 000 buckshot

Turkey chair in a drainage deep in 20+ year old planted pines. I can see about 30 yards around me, but if he travels this bottom before dark, he’s mine. Glad someone else is cooking at the camp this evening, we’re having white beans with pork grillades from a 40 pounder he got this morning under a feeder. Can’t wait!

Buck hunt (14” spread minimum)
Greensburg, LA
32 degrees, clear skies with 4 mph south wind
AR 5.56 with 77 gr razor cores.

Food plot with feeder. Sitting on turkey chair on opposite side of plot nestled about a yard inside the pines because of wrong wind. Someone missed a good buck from the stand Tuesday morning. I hope he comes back this morning and gives me a chance. Good luck to all out today!
3 oz Diquat per gallon of water. It’s for lily pads and duckweed but it’ll smoke anything green.
I ain’t even waiting until next session, put that Clark guy in!

I dealt with John Jackson, IIRC, John was Leroy and James’s nephew.

You could always go this route.
Harvey Enterprises (225) 634-7397
Drawback is they’ll only sign 1 year agreements and go up a dollar an acre every year or so, but you’ll have a lease. Good luck.
The 150 will shoot flatter at all distances but I’d shoot a 3 shot group with the 150 and 180 before dialing the scope in. Your rifle may favor one over the other.

Louisiana is a melting pot of Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Wisconsin whitetails. Just get on a stand when you can, it can happen on any given day.

Hell, the talking heads will have us preseason #1.
Saw it happen twice in Louisiana. Back in the 80’s, I bought some little white bottle with an Indian’s picture on it (don’t recall the brand). I put that stuff in a semi circle around my ladder stand on the way in. A 1.5 year old spike walked right up to almost every spot it was applied. Same thing happened the following season but it was a different spike, I think?
I hung a rank tarsal cut off a 3.5 year old buck once on a lease off hwy 10 in west Feliciana parish in front of a cam tracker camera back in the 90’s. Checked it the following weekend and had 3 pics taken in 6 days. A brown cow, a button buck and a coyote. So I’ve never used one while hunting after seeing that.
