I'm bent on figuring out how to catch mangroves on something besides live bait.
Flat of frozen pogies. Chum them out from under rig. Piece of pogie on a hook in the chum.
Profit

Haven’t seen many people at all catching trout on the beaches of GI.

I couldn't catch crap at grand isle. Went to east grand Terre in the boat and caught 50 trout on sunday, only 3 throwbacks. All caught on yellow tailed swim baits attached to a 1/4oz jig.

Saw several people wade fishing. Not sure if they were catching. The water was almost blue everywhere. Never seen it like that so close to the island. In the pass, visibility was a good 10 feet down.

Thank y'all for the update.
It seems like the trout are around there. Just hoping they come in closer to the surf. We have a boat we can go catch them in if needed, but we try our best to get on them while wading.
We normally go to south Texas every year to wade, but with gas as expensive as it is we decided on the shorter drive.

Yesterday was my annual frick trout fishing trip. I forgot how much I hate boat riding, sifting through trash fish, etc.
Around this time every year I think about how much fun a box full of trout is, than go on a skunk trip, and then do stuff im actually capable of being successful with the rest of summer.

they are much more plentiful on the rocks/island in the bay still, but that was as of last saturday, maybe the full moon this week moved them to the beach

Thank you for the tip!
I do more of my fishing on the western side of the state. Had an excellent time last weekend down in Grand Chenier, and have a trip to Big Lake lined up for the first weekend in June.
