I cheated, we killed it near Bay City, TX. Not the first we have killed down there..but looking back I probably should have.

I've never even heard of a mandrine woodie. That is badass.

To kill one in the Mississippi flyway would be extremely rare

Mandarin Ducks are found in southeast Russia, China, Japan, and Korea. They were introduced into Britain and exported to many other countries. The largest populations are in Japan and Britain. Ducks found in North America are usually escapees from collections or feral ducks in small numbers. There is a small colony of Mandarin Ducks in northern California. Their habitat is marshes, streams, and pools in wooded areas. They are partial migrators, migrating in early September LINK

I need to see pics of some of these mandarin ducks people are talking ab killing. that is the most beautiful bird IMO and extremely rare in the US.
I have heard of a few cinnamon teal killed in LA each season, so that is not uncommon

Do y'all share the GC lease with the J's? If so, I hunted out there a couple times with DJ this past season

There is a pond near my home off George Oneal that holds a small flock of Egyptian Geese.
