If so, do you have any tips or tricks? I've bought on line from a dealer before (Bud's) but I've never sold. Seems a bit daunting.

Ok. So find out from the buyer what FFL he will use. Take the gun to my FFL and of course send through the FFL. Who typically pays the FFL fees, me, the buyer or both?

Do I pay the FFL on my end to ship and he pays on his end to receive?

Also, any auction advice?

If you don't want to deal with FFLs and shipping look at bayoushooter.com

Louisiana based and you can do face to face sales.

yes, cause the FFL is the one who has to do the paperwork. It's not alot of paperwork, typically just an email sent with the ffl number. I would at least contact the current FFL you plan to use. Cause odds are, they are going to charge you a % to send it through them to use their FFL. It's not unheard of, but many FFL's do not operate in this way and may not want to take your gun, ship it to another ffl. Cause that FFL is going to take position of the firearm, put it on their books, ship it properly, and dispose of it on their book.

The only proper answer. Big brother needs to mind his own business.

Ok, now there's a certain etiquette probably to this sort of thing, that I'm unaware of. Do you meet in a parking lot or some place like that? What if the purchaser seems like a lowlife, can I back out? If I can avoid it, I don’t want to sell a gun to an obvious piece of shite or someone who gives me a bad vibe.

Yes, usually a business parking lot somewhere in the middle. I've done many deals at the Bass Pro parking lot.

Most of the people on the site have been around a while. They have a rating system where people leave reviews from past transactions. You don't have to sell to anyone you're uncomfortable with. I've had guys bring their own bill of sale for me to sign (just realized the next part where i say "I don't do it" is confusing. I do sign their BOS but I don't use them myself)... I don't do it, but it makes some feel more comfortable having a paper trail.

I've bought, sold, and traded dozens of times with people on that site and never had a problem.

I worded something a little weird. I do sign a bill of sale if the other person wants one. When I said "I don't do it" I just meant I don't require a BOS.

Ya swap is another options as well.

FYI, like eBay, gunbroker will want their portion of the sale as well.

6% on the price of the item up to $400
4% on the portion over $400 up to $15,000
3% on the portion over $15,000 up to $20,000
2% on the portion over $20,000

For example, a $1,500 firearm would cost:

$400 times 6% = $24.00
$1,100 times 4% = $44.00
Total = $68.00

A $500 firearm would cost:

$400 times 6% = $24.00
$100 times 4% = $4.00
Total = $28.00
