Get a pair or two of Howard Leights, Classic or Pro versions. I have one pair in my range bag and another I use for work. I keep the sound amplification dialed down just to what I'd normally hear in the background. Talking less than $50/ea on Amazon.

Tinnitus is not fun. I use ESP. They are expensive, but i have used the same pair for over 15 years. Send them back to the guy who makes them every few years for a tune up and it's been $50 every time. Even when my wife washed my bibs with them in the pocket. Also have electronic muffs for my kids, they have never been around a gunshot without hearing protection, unlike their dumb dad....

I always figured by the time I get old enough to go deaf, I wouldn't want to hear anything anyway

Yes that’s what’s I wear and they work awesome, batteries last forever and after 4 hrs they automatically turn off so u don’t run batteries down if you forget to turn the off or accidentally turn on in your bag. Not only do they muffle shots but they actually help u hear better. You can hear all kinds of stuff if u turn them up. I let my half deaf buddy wear them last year and he said he had never heard a ducks wings cut the air before, and was amazed at the sounds he was hearing, he had a pair ordered before we got out the blind.

The only thing you have to watch out for is that if you turn the volume up too far, it won't muffle the shot very well. Gotta find the sweet spot. I also don't recommend them for indoor use or use under an awning.

I had a pair of custom molded digital ear plugs but those bit the dust last year after 10 years even though I babied them, only used them when shooting, and serviced them every year. I bought a pair of Walker Razors but they are decent at best and not really what I want long term.

I would drop a grand on new ones if they are legit? The reviews seem good but that is on their own website. Are they worth it?

ESP... electronicic shooters protection. Ustom molded. Expensive, yea, but worth every penny. Have had my pair for 13 years. Great hearing and great shut down. Sent back twice to clean wax and was done for free both times. Would absolutely buy again.

Just got wild ears by the recommendations of several big time shooters and hunters. I have only had them a month but very impressed so far.

I’m 51 and have sever/profound hearing loss, and severe ringing in both ears. Much of this was caused by duck hunting and occasional target shooting. I cannot understand a whisper at all. I cannot focus on a voice and tune out other sounds. I hear about 70 percent of normal conversation. I get tired asking people to repeat things, so I quit asking and just pretend to understand. Forget about understanding normal conversation in a crowded room. Forget about having a conversation with music being played, like a reception or club. I’m getting fitted for hearing aids next month, but they say they’ll only help some. So go ahead, tough guys. Don’t wear hearing protection. You’ll likely end up like me. You’ll be miserable. You cannot get your hearing back once it’s lost. You’ll regret it for the rest of your life, but it’ll be too late. Preserve what you got. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. It’s a living hell.

The problem I have with every pair I’ve ever had is calling. I can’t hear myself or it sounds weird so it messes me up.

I keep a 100 pack of soft foam ear plugs in my bag and offer to everyone on duck hunts.

Most people would wear them but don’t remember to bring them. Costs me $10 a season.
