He's been shooting right handed until now, wick, just not very well. at the suggestion of his instructor, who I know and trust, we switched him to shooting left handed and he's progressed very well.
Sorry to say, but if your instructor is switching him over without trying to train him using a eye patch, he is not much of a instructor.
I trained many people when I was in the Marines to break them of bad habits. Snapping in with a eye patch will help to break that bad habit. It just takes a little time.
Youth shotguns. Look at a Mossberg 500. Outstanding youth gun for a cheap price. I find it 10 times better to start young ones on pumps first after single shots.

I got my daughter a weatherby semi youth for her 1st gun she is 12 and petite. The semi helps w recoil. Good beginner gun and if she stays w it we will move to a B gun

Was it the SA-08? If so have you had problems with jamming?

I've been dealing with that my entire life & really it has never ever been a big deal.

My dad is a dominant L hander, but really is ambidextrous. He shoots a R handed shotgun from the L side. He wears yellow tinted shooting glasses any time he is using his shotguns. He still gets powder spray every now and then, but for the most part he doesn't have any problems. He did switch all the safeties to L hand.
The only L handed gun he has is a Ruger 270 bolt action
