They are smart as hell. If you ran dogs every single night you might could stave them off, but who's got the time or want for that?

I think about that all of the time at one of the spots I hunt. Once you get about 150-200 yards from the gate there is no cell reception, and I've gotten paranoid about falling out of a stand and not being able to call 911 or call a buddy who hunts there too. If I'm going alone I try to text someone else who hunts the lease where I will be sitting so they can come find my body if I don't show up at home that evening.

2 or 3 years ago there was a story on Fox website about an old hog farmer in Oregon that was eaten by his hogs. These were registered domestic pigs,he sold them to 4-H kids.Anyway he went one evening to feed the pigs and didn’t come back to the house.Family went looking for him,all they found were his shredded clothes, dentures and skin and bone fragments.
It was speculated that he had probably had died from heart attack or stroke, authorities didn’t think the pigs actually killed him.

I'm skeptical as well. fricking Facebook had my wife a nervous wreck. I went out last night to put corn out and check my camera and she was a wreck.

It was dark but I carry my .45

I jumped up about 6 a while back and the hippo size one made like he was going to come after me but turn and tried to ran off with the rest.

I did find out just how big a .45 expands when it hits a hog. Holy shite they don't go far either. I bet a .45 acp ar15 style rifle would be a bad SOB for hunting them close range over a green light motion feeder.

Or for home defense. I want one now.

Deer/hog hunting right now. Hoping to get some revenge.

I killed a 75 pound sow today. My brother shot 2 more sows(75 and 125 pounds). Eating some pig tomorrow.

I wonder how feasible a drone equipped with thermal imaging would be. Could be used to locate and give coordinates of a passel of hogs. Maybe could partner with the state to offset the costs.

Sounds like your wife is on board for you to purchase an AR-15 with unlimited budget.

About 8k I believe. That’s a good drone and good thermal imaging camera. I have used them to find deer in the winter that didn’t have good blood trails.
Also, some hog hunting outfitters use them to find the hogs at night.

She was coming into the feeder down a fence line. They hit her before she got into the clearing. He said he couldn't see them doing it because she actually made it into the brush before they got her down so he didn't get to see the dog pile but got to listen to it. You could see where it happened the next day but there wasn't much left.

The only way we will be able to get rid of hogs is to develop a fast killing and spreading disease that the domestic herd and be vaccinated for.

Same way with CWD only being stopped through a vaccine.

Isn’t LSU developing a poison specifically for hogs?
Found it;

They tried to roll it out once and there was major pushback. Not sure where that stands now.
