My wife and I just took the CCL course, taught by three retired policeman that now work for the levee board. They had many great stories and kept the course from being boring.

One story related to what load, caliber etc should be used as we are now discussing.
One guy told the story about getting a call on a shooting in one of Monroe's "'hoods". There was a crowd there at the scene.
He pulled up and asked what happened. "So-an-so was shot, etc." "Where is so-an-so?" "He ran off that away." "Where did this happen?"
"Right here; there's the hull."
Officer looks down and there is one .410 shell on the ground.
"Where was so-an-so when he was shot? "By that stop sign."
Officer goes to the stop sign which is about 50 feet away and there is a little blood trail going across the street.
Before anything else happens, he gets a call that so-an-so was picked up and taken to the emergency room.
He gets to the emergency room to see the doctor put up an X-ray of so-an-so's back which is liberally peppered with shot, from his neck to his butt.
"Wow", says the officer, "that .410 had a hell of a pattern." Dr. starts laughing.
Officer goes to so-an-so and asked how many times the guy had shot him because it looked like there was mutiple shot damage.

So-an-so says " Aw,no, Suh, I been shot Several times 'fore tonight!."

Brought the house down.

My BIL awoke to someone banging on his door @ 2am. He grabbed the .40 and pointed it at the dude through the screen door. Guy begged him to shoot. Turns out he was drunk and lost. So i guess my question is if you have time to confront intruder in another part of your home do you still get shotgun orB C or D in original OP?

any talking to an intruder is a violation and you must surrender all weapons.

Have you ever used Heberts before? They are terrible for class 3 purchases. Nothing like purchasing a regular firearm.

I still grab my AR or shotgun without a 30 round mag. My intention is to protect myself and my wife. If the threat is not deadly, I go from there. I do not pick less use of force before I assess the situation.

I haven't. A guy that works with my dad got a suppressor through them, he said he'd reccommend them. I don't have any personal experience though.

I just got done using them. I cannot recommend them. Landrys Guns and Big Boy Armament are both highly recommended by me and others on BayouShooter. Both know buckets more info than the guy at Bowies.

Fair enough. I am just not getting into the class 3 game but I dove off head first. Got two Form 4s waiting and am about to go get a Form 1 started. Its much much easier when the people you deal with know what they are talking about. Thats why I recommended who I did.

Eventually I'm gonna get into the game, whenever it fits in the budget.

Not a big fan of SBS's. They spread the pattern too quickly. I don't mind the shot pattern being the size of my fist with my cylinder bore 18" barrel.

I would go with A. I want the most minimal of stuff. I don't need a side saddle. I don't need any foregrip. I don't need a real sight. A basic 870 with 5 rounds of 00 Buck and a standard bead sight will do just fine. Check out my reasoning behind shotguns for HD in my First Time Buyers video.

I don't really mind anyone who keeps an AR for HD. I think it's a very good option. Check out my video on how ammo works to see what I think is the best defensive load for the AR in a home and my reasoning behind it. I suggest a mid-weight varmint round for it's fragmenting nature when hitting objects.

The semi auto shotgun vs pump shotgun debate could go all day. The main thing is that you should train with your weapon to know it well. For me, shooting a pump shotgun is one fluid motion. Right when that trigger breaks, the forearm is getting pumped back no matter what. The easiest way to train this way is to go skeet shooting and work on it. It should be one fluid motion. I'd rather not depend on my ammunition for the gun to function like in a semi auto. As rare as it may be, I prefer my chances of success with the pump.

I also have my Beretta 96 right next to my shotgun. So, depending on what my mind automatically decides, I could be grabbing either one. I have a light mounted on my Beretta and I should probably get one for the 870 too. I strongly suggest identifying your target before pulling the trigger.

You must have a much larger house than I do. We are talking inches from a 18" barrel. Double that for a SBS.

A. However, list is invalid, does not have judge to the face as a choice.
