Southern Regional is still happening in Port Allen for advanced shotgun. It won't be open to the public until April though. Bridgeview is the new name.

It does suck not be able to practice at the actual facility for the shoot. I know the surrounding parishes are already beginning to purchase more equipment so they don't have to rely the gun club.

I'll say this about Cazes; anytime a call is made to him about 4-H, he does everything he can to support the organization.

I was looking at a sporting clays site yesterday getting info and saw things listed at Bridgeview Gun Club in Baton Rouge and thought it had to be Hunters Run. The link takes you to a site that hasn't been set up yet but directs you to Poplar Grove Gun Club. This is the site I saw it on.

Louisiana Sporting Clays Calendar

Anyone know when this will open? They have an event scheduled for April 8.

I know Hunters Run has seen posts on here, maybe Bridgeview will too.

Bluecollarskolar was nice enough to invite me and Civil tiger to a shoot in Shreveport last weekend. I was looking on their site and they have a $1200 membership option. For $1200 you can shoot as many clays as you'd like all year. I would love it if they would offer something like that locally.

Website says:

1365 Northwest Drive
Port Allen, Louisiana 70767

That's a lot on the Hunters Run street. Not nearly big enough to shoot on.

It's the same piece of property the club was on before.

we'll see how this goes. hunters run was REALLY pushing capacity and equip to handle the # of kids at the Southern regional. 2 yrs ago there was and equipment malfunction that calls a two hour delay for the kids shooting sporting clays. ZERO of the shooters behind that delay made it to state.
I hope this new guy is better

I emailed him earlier. He said he thought people would be "pleasantly surprised" at the changed being made.

He said mid April opening.

The website suggests they are doing the whole 5 different stands with 5 shots per stand so let's call it 5 stand "dash" sporting clays bull shite again.

I read it as 2 five stand stations then in addition they would have 8 sporting clay stations?

Bridgeview Gun Club offers two state-of-the-art five- stand sporting facility that will certainly challenge all shooters and an 8 station walking sporting clays course.

I missed that part. All I saw was the price list showing 5 stand/sporting being 25 targets.

Anyone have an idea if the group that supported Hunter's Run will support the new place? Seems like most here will go to wherever the new HRGC will be, but not sure that's the same group that really gave it the life (little bit it did have) it did

This might turn out to be interesting . . .

The Hunter's Run Gun Club and the Great International Land Company recently filed suit against its former manager in the U.S. District Court Middle District of Louisiana, alleging that Baker's unfair trade practices and other wrongful actions led to irreparable injury, loss and damage to the gun club.

Just to let everyone know, today is the first fun shoot at Bridgeview.

I'm not sure how it will be different now that it's bridgeview, but Hunters Run charged $16 for 50 clays and they cooked supper for $7. It was a pretty good deal. Hopefully it's similar now that ownership has changed.

Didn't the previous owners do a membership drive after knowing the lost they lease?

Seems like that'll be a future lawsuit as well

Seems like I remember seeing them drop the price of memberships. But that was before I heard about them losing the lease. I don't know if they are related.

The complaint claims that Baker had conspired with Sheriff Mike Cazes of West Baton Rouge to obtain the gun store's trade secrets to put the gun club out of business. They allegedly did this by failing to maintain equipment, properly account for cash and took actions that caused several annual events to be canceled by the event organizers.

At the same time, Baker was conspiring to take over the gun club’s business by convincing the law enforcement district to cancel its lease with Great International Land Company.
