The 70 is a little more compact and holds less line. Designed more for pitching and light stuff. I can throw weightless plastics and lighter jerkbaits on it if need be, but it knocks that 1/4oz-ish pitching out of the park. I think it palms a lot better but that’s on how you palm a reel.

The K is a lot more of an all around reel, can do just about anything, and has a little smoother retrieve since it has micro gearing.

I prefer the 70 to the K but it’s because I do a ton of pitching. The K I use for moving baits. Both of them are two of the best reels on the market in their price range. Chronarch is a step above but you pay for it.

The K has a larger profile and holds more line (larger spool). The 70 has a smaller spool and is designed to get line off faster for flipping and pitching and what not.

It can still do almost anything, but I do not think it's great for moving baits such as chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. It has a smaller handle and the K is more powerful for those applications.

I feel like Shimano will introduce a smaller version of the K soon, like a Curado K 70 or such, so I personally wouldnt buy a Curado 70.

The current Curado K is a more refined reel and can cast the lighter stuff just as good as the 70 can IMO.

I sold the 3 Curado 70's I had and upgraded to Chronarch G's. I love the smoothness of the Chronarch. If you wait, there are good deals to be had on Ebay on them.

Lews Team Lite Speed Spool

I've swapped all of our chronarchs and curados for Lews after being a Shimano guy since the old greenies, I was replacing bearings on the newer model Shimanos multiple times per year, I have a couple Lews that are going on 2 years old without ever being opened up, remarkable given we wade fish 100% of the time throwing tails on 1/16oz jig heads. You can find them for around $200 online.

I have a Curado DC that I use for jigging... honestly, its the first bait caster that I have owned as I have strictly been a spinning reel guy up until this point. I've fished with it probably 10 times in the last 2 months and I have yet to bird's nest it.

Did you try the new Chronarch G yet? I haven’t had any problems with mine, and I’ve fished them hard the past year. I remember an older thread where you said you had given up on Shimano due to the issues you had with the CI4 Chronarch.

I have 2 Lew’s Tournament Lite G spool reels that are also good reels. Nothing bad to say about them. I just don’t fish them as much as my other reels. I believe they discontinued the model however.

have 15 of em that I fish with and another 9 retired but still good...
but really Lew's, shimano's, Quantum's...all quality reels...I have a couple of Revo X's and for under $100 they are solid...

Can you give me a comparison of the Revo X, SX, and ALX?

I absolutely love my SX and thinking about adding to my collection.

Thanks Ryno and Tigah... Might hold out a while and see if they come out with a smaller K. I'd really like to get a 50e but they are high on Ebay.
