“in a locust tree”
Years ago when Baker Stands were the only climbing stands I climbed a locust tree, only tree I could find.
The bottom fell most of the way down the tree.I had a safety belt so I didn’t go down with it.
I held on to the upper climbing bar and used my feet to rake the thorns off the trunk, wrap my legs around the tree and lower the climbing bar some.
It was an ordeal ,I finally got down without getting stuck by very many thorns.

They killed 2 8pts within 30 seconds of each other. One was nice. One could have used another year. Me and the boys were stoking the fire listening to it on the radio.

For a minute I thought I was going to have to get a chainsaw to get this sucker out. Shot at about 10 yards, plowed itself into a dead fall 20 yards away from it. I love hunting evenings in weather like this. I gutted it, hung it up, and will clean in the morning.

Thats a final “tip O the cap good sir but eff u on my way out”

Congrats on the deer. Also, I agree with your statement on these cold nights. SW MS or SE LA dont have many opportunities to let them hang and its usually a race to get them on ice. Enjoy!

It's really nice. When I was up in missouri this last year we hung all the meat up and would butcher a quarter at lunch here and there. Loved being able to take 3 or 4 days to cut them up and not worry about the meat getting all waterlogged and nasty on ice.

Ended up shooting a doe this evening. Been a few years since I had killed a deer.
Bow kill in SW MS. Froze my balls off all evening but it paid off.

ETA: just checked it was 2021.
