From Tyler's father's FB post a few minutes ago:

quote:

Got to visit with Tyler for about an hour. He was under heavy sedation. All Doctors are saying how good he is doing with all that has happened. Got to meet with Dr. Nanda. He was very positive and excited how good he is doing. He feels he will be fine. Track of the bullet actually didn't do as much damage as first thought from the angle and track. They are still determining about a lung they may have been hit by the bullet or trauma from the bullet. It is partially deflated. They were going to inflate it with a tube. He will have surgery on his jaw tomorrow. It was broken where one bullet entered. It is now a waiting game for swelling. Thanks for all the prayers. They are working. Thanks to the response from The LDWF from the top down and all surrounding LEO's. They have been very supportive. Governor Edwards has reached out and called Haley. It is a wait and see game now, but all is positive so far because Tyler is a fighter.

Pretty remarkable that you can take a bullet to the temple and still be conscious enough to talk and move a little bit.

Yeah no doubt. Word is that he was also wearing a bullet proof vest. I'm sure this also played a huge part in saving his life this morning. I still have not seen anything on the suspects other than two are in custody.

I've met with Dr. Nanda dozens of times on a professional level. He is regarded as one of the best neurosurgeons in the country - Tyler is in good hands as more prayers sent up

If anyone knows the family and can help them set up a gofundme page, it can help the family during this difficult time. They set up one for Nick Tullier (the officer shot in Baton Rouge) and people all contributed a little bit to help out the family for child care, meals etc. so they could focus on being at the hospital. Even a few bucks could go a long way in helping out the family.

Keeping the family and Tyler in my thought and prayers....

My buddy, a State Trooper that patrols Morehouse just posted this:

Update on Tyler from his family:

Update: he is stable, and will be sedated for the next 72 hours. His brain scans showed no damage.
If you don't believe in a GOD I suggest you start because this miracle was worked with his hands. Simply amazing
From being shot in the temple, jaw, shoulder, and twice in the arm & he's doing so well is just an absolute blessing

There was another LDWF shot I believe in russel sage not long ago. That agent I had dealt with several times in Jackson Bienville wma. Nothing big, just checking my stuff if he heard me shoot but was always nice. Also a Sterlington cop was killed not long ago.

This is probably him

Prayers for this family and friends.

Coach Wheeler's (father) recent FB post:

quote:

Just talked to two different Doctors. They will do surgery on his jaw around 1:00 tomorrow. This is not the good thing. Another came by with the brain swelling sensor. They took it off. Said he didn't need it any longer. Still has good command of his movements.

We, as voters, should require our government to double them up.

Update from Dad - surgery to replace broken jaw from bullet will be tomorrow at 1pm - they have removed the sensors from his brain as there has been no indication of swelling or loss of function. He is still in stable condition and in the ICU but doctors are hopeful for a full recovery.

Did they replace part of his skull they removed? Hoping they put him back together as a sign of his improvement. Would imagine if they can work on his jaw, that's a good sign.
